Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. On my 996, the mounting holes were filled when I had the bumper repainted, so not front plate.

Surely the responses will vary be state/locality, but if I kept the front plate on the passenger floor for easy retrieval to say "it fell off" and will be replaced immediately .

JD I don't believe that we Nevadans are required to run a front plate.

Trying to decide any risk factor in running without one.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Trying to decide any risk factor in running without one. Looks much better without one and
coefficient of visual drag
is certainly reduced. LOL

I'm a police officer and I don't have a front plate and my state requires it. I don't know anyone who would write a ticket for it, it's more of a reason to stop you than anything.
For myself and every police officer I've ever known, you would have to talk your way into getting the ticket (ie be a dick). If your license is suspended or you have warrants on the stop then you load em up with every citation, including front plate required. But I can't imagine a lot of the forum members here to be suspended...
They've heard all the excuses already. They hate being lied to.
I agree with you. I hate a front plate and run without. Take my chances. Been pulled over at least 4 times in the past 6 years. Only ticketed once, and beat it in court with corrective measures and photo proof of the Rennline tow hook mount.
Also received a parking ticket in downtown Chicago. About $65. I just paid it and never take my car into the city anymore.

Put Rennline mount on.
Put on plate.
Take photo.
Take off mount and plate.
Show photo to State prosecutor jn court.
He tells judge they are dropping charges.
Judge lectures and jokes.
Clerk sends refund check.
Rinse & repeat.

IMO I feel the police have better things to do rather than stopping me for not having a front plate because I don't like the way it looks. Prior owner didn't run plates in our state which requires both plates. He got stopped once in one year. Car had matching paint plugs in the square holes for brackets. Brackets were in frunk so I put them on. Plate is tipped down with proper brackets and does not look like a barn door going down road. There are also the "mount in the tow hook" brackets that are easily removable. Just my opinion.
I haven't had one on any of my Porsches in 14 years. I actually passed a nj inspection without it. I got a ticket maybe 5 years into that 14 years when I lived in ny.
I had the holes filled in when I got the bumper painted. I never run a front plate on any hot rod or collectable car. Never got a ticket or stopped because of that. If I ever get a ticket for it I'll chalk it up to an inconvenience and go on with life.
I'm in WA. In my previous car, I had a European-style front plate with the same number as the WA state plate on the back. I got stopped once and received a ticket. I contested it and it was thrown out.

You don't spend time in DC with its 400 different police jurisdictions. The park police are the worst here and love to ticket you for no plate, even when your car is not registered in the jurisdiction of the citation.
Haven't had a front plate on in 15 years or so on any car. Other than the afore mentioned park police the only times I've gotten a front plate ticket is when then stopped me for something else but realized they couldn't make it stick. They use the front plate as a consolation prize. In all cases I've been fine with that over what they wanted to give me (and I deserved).
My wife got pulled over 3 houses from ours on the way to work for not having front license plate on her Cayenne S. She was given a warning. Wife insisted on having plates installed so I got the tow hook mount and installed it. I have heard others getting a ticket for not having front plates in Denver area. I guess it all depends on the cop.... and how his/her day is going that day. Perhaps, carry donuts in the car always?
I just recently got cited for the one time.
Need to get it "fixed" temporary just to get signed off then remove the plate again.
Not to thread jack, just won't wanna start another thread when this one invokes front plates and mounting:
Would 3m double sided tape be strong enough to remove paint with it when I take the front plate back off? What if I use some cheap off brand double sided tape ? (theory being the cheaper glue that prob won't be as sticky this minimal damage to paint.
I would obviously stick the plate on practically right before I drive into the correction station.
Been driving a year with no plates displayed, this is the first time stopped for it. (Although many times I've followed by cruisers for a bit, hehe-but never stopped
**knocks on wood**)
Definitely worth it!
I got pulled over for speeding on I-70 in Denver last year (right in that nasty little spot where the speed limit drops from 65 mph to 55 mph), and I didn't have a front plate. The officer never said a word about it.
Got pulled over 4 or 5 years ago without a plate on my jeep here in MN. Not sure they would pull over out of state people, but it was a really easy way for the cop to hit me with a $120 ticket. My fault for not putting it on right away after someone tapped me while backing up.
With the 996, I figure I'm already paying enough for the car and insurance and as always I really don't want to find more ways to give the goverment more money than I have to.
Cops in LA couldn't care less. I've had a few look around front, see no plate and not say a word.
Only time I ever got a ticket was CHP. Put it on with zip ties and went to CHP office. He looked at it across the parking lot, and says, "OK - you're good" and signed off. And I pulled off the plate off right there in the parking lot before I left.
Corvette's get away with this all the time regardless of state. Which brings me to my next point, have you ever seen a nice looking Corvette or a Corvette in general with front plates? There's a reason for that and the same reason why I won't put one on my car.
I'm willing to take the chance and pay extra not to have it on there. Pay to play...
Here in Wisconsin they will pull you over. I was stopped a while ago and received a verbal warning for no front plate.
Then I was stopped in a ice storm in my 528 IT wagon and he gave me a ticket for not having my sticker in the right place. Must have been a bimmer hater!!!!
I have one on 996 and wish I could get rid of it.
Now you have a tough decision Dennis. With your current Porsche Turbo you 'could'(not that you would) mash
the go fast pedal and disappear into the mountains.
