BTW, my car also has full coilovers and last time I checked the height was the same side to side.

BTW - If you haven't seen it, I think Neto has the best looking 996 I've ever seen - absolutely gorgeous speed yellow car - check the "Thread dedicated to Mk I aeros." His car is why I'm looking for a 996TT in speed yellow.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

As we all know, in some sections, highways have a slight slope sideways to make sure that when it rain, water does not accumulate and flows away from the road. When I drive my car in the highway it feels like its not aligned properly since it drives towards the lower part of the incline. When I am in a flat surface with no incline, car drives fine, no alignment issues.. Is this normal behavior on these cars since their weight in the front is way less than in the back or is my alignment messed up, maybe caster?

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

BTW, my car also has full coilovers and last time I checked the height was the same side to side.

POST 3Original post

Caster is what make the car track striaght on a crowned road surface.

POST 4Original post

What you are describing sounds like gravity working as expected on a car with a fairly neutral alignment. All vehicles I own work this way. If you drive slowly around a track with banked corners, your car will try to track downhill, even though on the same corner at higher speed centripetal force will cause it to track straight or track uphill.

POST 5Original post

Maybe this is too obvious, but have you had the car aligned recently? Even if it tracks straight on level ground does not mean the alignment is correct. Does the car behave the same on slopes to the left as it does on slopes to the right?

POST 6Original post

Neto, I'm sorry to tell you this, but your car surely has some major, major problems. I think you need to sell it to some unsuspecting buyer immediately. I'll tell you what, being such a nice guy and all, and given that I really miss my Mk I aero since I sold it, I'll take it off your hands. Now, the sideways tracking problem is gonna drop the price severely, and maybe I'm a little crazy for offering this much, but I'll go $10,000 for it. BTW - If you haven't seen it, I think Neto has the best looking 996 I've ever seen - absolutely gorgeous speed yellow car - check the "Thread dedicated to Mk I aeros." His car is why I'm looking for a 996TT in speed yellow.

POST 7Original post

I agree with 5CHN3LL. You just need to go faster. There is a reason that 70 mph is the minimum speed for Daytona. Any slower and the car will track down off the bank. That's an extreme banking example but the theory applies. Try varying your speed and see if it makes a difference, staying safe of course, before hauling it in for an alignment.

I havent had any alignment done recently but the bigger pull is on driver's side when slope is towards the left (driver standpoint) but i do get slight pull to the driver's side too. Maybe is the highway from my comute, i daily drive it and the majority of slope is towards driver side.

Lol thanks and to be honest, if i upgrade this car in the future, i have to get anothet speed yellow porsche. Maybe a 996 or 997 turbo or my new dream car, a speed yellow gt3!!! My car is exacly a mk1 gt3 clone so i am extremely happy with it, only a few people can tell the difference, usually enthusiasts..

I will check tomorrow, most of the time i use the left lane (hov in maryland) since i commute with my wife to work. Highway has 4 lanes and my speed ranges from 65-90 depending on how fast are the others going.

POST 12Original post

Mine does that too, a lot more than the other cars we have - although the Jeep has a mind of it's own at times - just figured it was normal for sports cars to follow the road a bit more.

POST 13Original post

Normal. Just wait till you drive on cupped tire lanes on the interstate (especially when the tire grooves are just a bit farther apart than your tires. You'll be all over the place. Come to IN for a demo...:/ TC

In my younger days I hydroplaned the Jeep backwards into a ditch (thankfully full of water) when I was driving on those grooves that were full of water after a storm.
