I asked the first question in this thread because I wasnt sure if loctite should be used when the bolts would be continually exposed to hot engine oil.

i Hi Can loctite or a similar compound be used on bolts 9921800501 and 90007548601 ...these are 9 M6 bolts that are attached to the crankshaft carrier.....I have been told Loctite 243 or 263 is suitable but I just wanted to check cheers

99921800501 is an m6 pan-head microencapsulated bolt. 6 of them to bolt down the oil splash guard to the bottom of the crank carrier. 90007548601 is another m6. 3 of them to bolt down the IMS chain guide to the crank carrier. All of them are NOT torqued-to-yield and can be reused with the 243 loctite.

Would like to be sure this bolt 999-218-102-09 (attaching rack to cross member) are not torqued-to-yield . Workshop manual states to replace them. They are stated as microencapsulated screws that are torqued to 45 Nm. Safe to reuse and add 243 loctite? Thanks!

"micro encapsulated" is just an industry buzzword for "sealing goo pre-loaded". In factory environments you don't want liquid sealant as it's messy to deal with. Hence the pre-made sealing bolts. In a shop using sealant is perfectly fine.

I thought "micro-encapsulated" is also formulated to keep dissimilar metals from oxidizing/welding themselves together (ie: steel bolts in aluminum suspension components...??? Not as a thread locker/sealer?
