Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
You'd also have to position the tweeters in one of the voids in the steel, unless you want to cut that too - I can't remember off hand where these are, but there are photo's available with the door cards off (check pelican parts for window regulator replacement) Have at it!
Leading evidence: 'Check pelican parts' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check pelican parts' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Been searching, but can't seem to find any examples of folks flush mounting tweeters in the doors...is there not enough space behind the panel to do this? the mounting depth is pretty minimal, maybe an inch, so doesn't seem insurmountable. Have others done this? Thanks in advance-
Why would you want tweeters in your doors ? I don't think there are many people cutting holes in their door cards (especially if they're covered in leather) when there are two tweeters already mounted on the dash board. There are some on the sidewalls of the backseat area as well...
Better imaging and soundstage by having them high up on the doors and facing the driver vs. on the dash pointing at the windshield. No leather on my doors, so not really an issue cutting a hole. I'm sure folks were hesitant cutting up a door panel when these things were new, but 20 yrs later, not really an issue maintaining originality (for me at least).
Ok, I get it - but it's not a listening room. I don't think the characteristics of the 996 cockpit are conducive to great sound no matter what you throw in there - especially when driving! Clearly, it's your car, and you can do as you wish with it... All this being said, I have no idea what the usable depth is behind the door card. I have had mine off though, and I know there isn't much. You'd also have to position the tweeters in one of the voids in the steel, unless you want to cut that too - I can't remember off hand where these are, but there are photo's available with the door cards off (check pelican parts for window regulator replacement) Have at it!
It doesn't look like there's much room - you'll have to pull your door card off to see - Before you start cutting metal, I'd say, why not just surface mount them?
Thanks for the pic! That does help quite a bit, but as you note, I'll def need to pull the card to find the depressions in the metal. Appreciate the feedback-
The folks at Porsche know what they’re doing, even when it comes to audio. Unlike low frequencies, the high frequencies produced by tweeters are very reflective, meaning they will bounce off surfaces very readily. The tweeters in the dash hit the window, bounce off it and travel directly toward the listener based on where they are located in relation to the slope of the windshield.
Furthermore, high frequencies are extremely directional, meaning they travel in a fairly straight direction with a very narrow dispersion pattern (unlike lower frequencies), so if you were to flush mount tweeters in the door card, they would not be facing you, and as such, would not sound as crisp as they would if they were. Additionally, you'll result with a pair of tweeters aimed at each other which will likely lead to phase cancellation -- frequencies hit each other (instead of hitting you) and cancel each other out resulting in unheard frequencies.
Of course high frequencies travel faster than low frequencies (the wave forms are shorter) so tweeters in the dash already have the advantage of being further away and thusly hit you at the same time as the midbass drivers at the lower part of the door card. For perfect imaging some time alignment is necessary (so that all sound emitted from all speakers hit the listener at the same time) but that would be necessary even if the tweeters were in the doors. I have a very high end system in my car and the software included w/ the amplifiers have fairly robust time alignment adjustments -- I’ve been able to dial it all in with VERY good result with aftermarket speakers installed in the factory locations. Hope that helps.
