Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Signed up to join you guys yesterday as I've been linked to countless threads on the forums over the past couple of months as I've been in the market for my first Porsche. Well, I'm stoked to have finally purchased a 99 996 that is in very good condition, mechanically and otherwise--at least according to the pre-purchase inspection I had done with a local independent Porsche mechanic in Phoenix--and at 68k miles I think I could have this mid-life crisis ride for a while. I've tried searching throughout the different threads but can't quite seem to find an answer... and I currently have the hard top on so no photos, though I'm sure they could help so I can get around to that in a bit when work slows down. Basically I know I'm going to have the hydraulics sent out and rebuilt, but with the soft top itself, there is an approximately 6" space over the driver door where the top is not secured over or to the frame? Overall the top is in nice shape, I just didn't know if this was an easily repairable thing or signs of a bigger issue? Any tips on this, or links to where it has been discussed a billion times previously that I can't find? Thanks!

That would be EXACTLY the issue. Thanks!
