Suggestion

Even if the carfax is clean, have them look closely for signs of an accident (if the front end had to be redone anyway, that would be a good time for such a modification).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Came across this car for sale in my search... and I was curious if this is the right wing for a 1999 Aero? (sorry it's a long link) http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...66163104&Log=0

POST 2Original post

No, it's the wrong wing, but it looks better than the taco spoiler.

POST 3Original post

No, but then it's not a 99 car either (headlights).

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The seller lists the car as a 1999...

POST 5Original post

This is a 99 car, no glove box. It looks like it was extensively modified. Pass on this car.

POST 7Original post

If you like the GT3 Aero wing I think this car is worth a look. It has aftermarket exhaust and intake so you can save big $$$ there. It has the same headlights as my 99 and if that is aftermarket (I don’t know) you also save. The wheels are 19” which are not stock but they look nice. Other than that it looks like a stock 99 to me. Get a car fax and if it is clean get have a PPI done and decide from there.

Ha! I hesitated calling it a MkII because something felt off. Couldn't put my finger on it though. I've done a bumper swap on my 958 so I'm not going to throw stones and say you should pass on it if you think you like it. You should make sure the PPI goes rough and deep though to make sure it was all done well. Even if the carfax is clean, have them look closely for signs of an accident (if the front end had to be redone anyway, that would be a good time for such a modification).

POST 9Original post

Maybe the car was involved in a front collision and he did a 2002+ retrofit to the front of the car? It does not look bad, some side skirts and you have a full aero kit car. Do a carfax & PPI so you can get more details.

POST 10Original post

10-1 the rear spoiler and maybe even the side skirts are not OEM. The headlights are most likely halogen or have aftermarket hid kit. Can't tell from my phone but wonder if he kept the original mk1 air ducts when upgrading to mk2 bumper.

POST 11Original post

Actually, I'm pretty sure this IS a '99, but not an aero. Of course the ad claims GT3 kit. Which is also wrong. I doubt the car came with a Mk1 kit, else why remove the skirts? Nothing wrong with it though, fairly common aftermarket crud. Easily removed.
