Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.
Rennlist: 1 discussions
0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.
0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Hi all. I found these photos I took last summer that may be of some use for those of you looking to wire up devices into the 996. In this case, I wired in a Uniden R7 radar detector (with the hardwire kit and remote mute from Safe-N-Sound), a Garmin dashcam (with the Garmin parking cable), and the Rennkit Bluetooth kit.
Radar Detector (process is very similar for a dash cam that needs constant power; only the tapped power source is different)
Removing the vent allows for a clean run up into the A-pillar.
For a radar detector, tap into the switched power from the stock cell phone connector (green wire). For a dashcam with parking recording, constant power is the red wire.
The wire is easily tucked under/into the soft trim below the dash.
I added some zip ties and foam to prevent rattles.
Completed look (with the Rennkit-supplied bluetooth adapter).
The mute button (left) and the alert LED (which I later moved to the back of the storage area, as it's quite bright).
Rennkit Bluetooth Adapter
Stock - CR-210, in my case, with a 6-disc changer in the frunk.
A towel to help prevent scratching.
Removing the storage tray
Use the supplied "keys" and some screwdrivers to pull out the head unit.
Mind the ground wire on the bottom, as it may catch (more on that later).
Tap into power as per the instructions
Remove the stock connector, again per instructions
Replace with the connector for the Bluetooth unit
A look inside; there's more room than needed for some cable management as cables are run from the head unit down into the storage tray/power tap.
Wires getting ready to tuck back in.
I recommend testing before fully reinstalling.
Holes in the storage tray to pass the cord for the Bluetooth control unit through.
The ground connector; without this, you may have issues with the factory alarm unit.
This connector needs to clear the ridge below, on the way in and the way out.
Line noise filter attached to the storage tray
Completed
Up close; the cables tuck in fairly well behind the rubber storage tray protector.
You bet. Let me know if you have any questions. I've done some hardwiring in the 996, a Panamera, and a Cayenne so far, and the 996 was dead easy in terms of cable routing.
You could always tap a fuse for power in the 996, but that stock cell phone connector is just so convenient.
