My two used oil analysis reports identified nothing abnormal, so I'm guessing this "stuff" isn't anywhere else.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

I'm refreshing my 130k-mile '99 C2 (UOAS, fuel injectors, etc.). Today I pulled the bank 1 oil return/scavenge pump. The bank 2 pump came off easily, but bank 1 seemed tighter. When I finally got it removed, I found dried yellow/tan deposits and film around the mating surfaces. Bank 2 was completely clean. My two used oil analysis reports identified nothing abnormal, so I'm guessing this "stuff" isn't anywhere else. Does anyone have thoughts on what this is or might be? Any precautions I should take besides scraping/cleaning it off and reinstalling the pump? (None of this stuff is inside the pump itself.)

The pumps are not supposed to have Loctite there -- just the o-ring... correct? I dismantled the pump to be sure none of the gasket material was present. Is this scoring of any concern?
