Suggestion
If you just replaced the regulator, the stop in the window mechanism for the Boxster may still be in place if you didn't remove it.

Maybe worthwhile to reset the window to see if that fixes it.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

It all started DIRECTLY after having my windows tinted today. When the tint guy went to shut my drivers side door and give me the spill about not rolling down the windows for 24hrs, the window went up (like it should) then immediately rolled down on it's own halfway. It did this for the rest of the time at the shop. I can stick the key in and it rolls up fine. I did notice that if I leave the car idling and close the door with the window up it finishes going up into the seals as it should. When the car is turned off, and the door shut, the window retracts down to halfway. Could this be from water from the tint job getting down into a switch? I figured the first thing I would do is wait until tomorrow to try it again to see if the water dries out and the problem stops.
Sounds like the anti-pinching function is kicking in randomly. Maybe worthwhile to reset the window to see if that fixes it. From the owner's manual
"Storing end position of the windows
If the battery is disconnected and reconnected,
the windows will not be raised automatically
when the door is closed.
1. Close the windows with the rocker switch
once.
2. Press front half of rocker switch again to
store the end position of the windows in the
control unit."
How about what mil film did you get? Maybe the extra drag sets it off some how. Maybe its the emergency ice age feature when the a/c reaches super cold it opens the window for warmer air outside? OK maybe not.
Oh yah, ya know some guys think you don't need tinting on the 911 hehehe. I've been in the desert where if the wind blows it urns the skin. I think some guys just have never experienced real heat before. I hope your car straightens out and is enjoyable for you now.
This started happening to me... passenger side does this, typically when closing the door. Then, just today, it happened to the driver side... will test this reset. I did have the battery disconnected many times recently. Will report back if this solves the issue, as I didn't see it posted here. I was initially thinking it could be the window regulator, however it's not the window falling down, the motor is definitely pulling it down and now that it happened on my driver's side, I'm hoping this will be an easy fix... also beginning to wonder if there are electrical gremlins and I may be in need of a new key switch.
Is it dropping metal in the filter. Is it causing IMS to fail?
My window does weird things like going up part way and up and down part away etc. I can toggle it back with the switch to where ever I want it. In the normal course of events I lock the door with the key, control the cab top with the key (makes the windows go up and down) and play with stuff on my after market stereo that I can't figure out what it does. At some point the windows start working properly. It's a Porsche miracle.
Well, yeah... but didn't know it was happening until I was gone. Wouldn't have mattered anyway, as this was the week for testing the car - it will be back in the shop soon enough... definitely finding out a few little issues that need to be resolved!
No luck with the "hold the button" trick to reset... it seemed to work for a while then tonight the window dropped 2 out of 3 times the passenger door was open/shut. It could be something triggering the finger stop, but not sure yet... not enough time in the day to figure out all the little issues just yet...

If you just replaced the regulator, the stop in the window mechanism for the Boxster may still be in place if you didn't remove it. The 911s and Boxsters use the same regulator except the 911 needs the window stop removed. Do a Google search on this.
Well I got my problem fixed. When I was messing with the door lock electrical connection the window started moving. I had to order a used door lock mechanism from ebay and it cleared up the window jumping, and rolling halfway down. I did try a new one from Amazon had an issue so I sent it back. The door locks both stopped working.
Fun fact: a new passenger side door lock cost 4 times the price of a drivers side. Guess they figured out people would be buying alot of those.
