And engine should most likely bolt on to the gearbox because you can change the piece of 5gtronic that connects to the engine (so called "bell").

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

There are already several LS swaps to 996 manual. But 996 tiptronic utilizes Mercedes 5gtronic gearbox that is standard for Mercedes S/CL/CLS/SL/E cars with M112/113/113K engines that are pretty reliable and cost almost nothing these days. You can basically get 360 hp 5.4 V8 for $500. I believe engine management should understand 996 tip since it's actually the same gearbox. And engine should most likely bolt on to the gearbox because you can change the piece of 5gtronic that connects to the engine (so called "bell"). Any thoughts on this?

POST 3Original post

thats a big motor compared to the ls1, so getting it to fit might be tricky. Good motors though
