Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I really like the design of the Rennline Exactfit phone mount. However it comes out to over $50 shipped and being magnetic, I didn't think it'd support my giant iphone 6+ in its otterbox case. Being bored and cheap, I decided to make my own that uses a phone clamp I had from another project. I fabbed up a bracket like the one in the ExactFit phone mount to go on my 2002 996. With hardware I had sitting around I have the rest of the mount I need, except the correct screw to attach the bracket to the console. There are 2 screws in their kit - a #10 screw and a 10-32 screw. Is the screw marked "mounting hole" here more likely a 10-32 or a #10 screw? I'm trying to buy one to complete my knockoff variant of their phone mount. Their installation instructions are here: https://www.rennline.com/PDF/PM01.08_Install.pdf

Let me go pull mine and I‘ll measure it and the pitch.

POST 3Original post

It’s a #10, but not a 10-32. It’s not a machine screw, It’s more like a wood screw. It is 13mm (1/2”) in length from the bottom of the shoulder to the point. Here’s a picture: I use a cradle with my Remnline mount:

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks man! Mine still has a tiny wobble that I think I can fix but I love their design and it seems to work quite well. If I could get proper lighting, you'd see that mine is far uglier than the one Renntech makes, but for $1.58 spent on the steel stock at the hardware store, some parts I had lying around, and an hour or two in the garage on a Sunday, I can't complain.

POST 5Original post

texsquirrel are you still using what I think is the OEM phone mount in pic 3? I have one but cannot figure out how the part screws in in the side foot well center console. I do not have the screw either
