They're pretty worn and starting to squeak pretty loudly now, the previous owner tracked the car so I'm looking to redo the brakes and suspension after the IMS gets replaced hence these relatively silly questions.

I changed rotors and pads and the sound came back.

I use Pagid yellows because I trust them after a decade of using them on the track as well as street.

I've seen people recommend Pagid Yellows so now with your recommendation, it seems like the way to go.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So after searching the interwebz and purchasing a 996 with a box of additional parts... I have some questions. After searching here, I was able to understand what I needed to install factory a 996 GT3 suspension to my C2. I saw that another member here would mod GT3 calipers to work with C2 wheel carriers but that was some time ago and I'm late to the party. As of now I'm getting Martin's kit and looking for decently priced Brembo slotted two pieced rotors, I know I know... I can get a whole BBK for 2500 but wanted to see what is out there. So here are my questions, some brake related and suspension related :
Is swapping to 996 Turbo brakes still a viable option?
Has anyone here modded 997 Cup 6 pistons to a regular 996?
Would I need to swap more suspension components if I went with the Turbo brake set up, mainly because I have rebuilt set of GT3 coilovers?
Would there be a real difference between the Tarret - Elephant vs OEM GT3 lower arms?
I got a brand new set of OZ Alleggerita in GT3 sizes and plan to go with OEM GT3 tire specs, seems like that is important to add when asking these questions. Added pics because everyone loves pics.

Two things.
1. Your stock brakes are plenty strong for the street and light track usage. The more you track the car and the faster you become (which will take years), will eventually call for stronger brakes. However, in the meantime, it may make sense to have your stock calipers rebuilt to give you confidence in their functionality if you feel they are questionable. I prefer to be better safe than sorry if I am on the track.
2. What you can do immediately to improve your stopping power is to upgrade your pads to a more aggressive compound. You will be surprised how much faster you slow down in relation to stock pads. I use Pagid yellows because I trust them after a decade of using them on the track as well as street. Other rennlisters will most likely have more suggestions that are just as good or better.
While everything car related costs money, these two things may save you a few bucks until you truly need bigger brakes.
Noted and that's pretty important. After looking around more often, I'll continue to pursue Martin's kit with turbo rotors... then figure out the pads.
Never had any problem with Pagid Yellows being loud. However, they will chew down your rotors pretty quickly. But if you want to stop, they are awesome.
My car squeaked like crazy when I got it. I changed rotors and pads and the sound came back. I took off the pads and sanded them down and chamfered them and the sound went away then came back again. Turned out it was because the previous owner removed the $15.00 brake dampeners and I didn't realize it. Long story short, if the squealing makes you think the brakes aren't working it might just be the dampeners. My base 996.1 brake performance is comparable to my 997.2 C4S, so personally I don't think an upgrade is really necessary for the street unless you just have to have it for personal desire or aesthetics.
Chunk,
Loving the car and look you are going for.
I will be joining you sometime over the next year with an RPM ducktail as well. Nothing like saving a few pounds with carbon fiber, not to mention a classical timeless look that adds to the overall lines of the 996.
Still figuring out what to do with a front end splitter that's functional without changing the bumper.
I just upgraded my front rotors to the Girodisc 340mm. After getting to drive on them a bit I can't believe how much difference the larger rotor makes because of mechanical leverage. So the larger rotors from Girodisc come with spacers for the calipers and everything else is left stock. Stock master cylinder, stock pads, stock calipers and maintains stock bias. They may be kind of spendy at $1200, but that is the cheapest brake upgrade you can do. Then in the back I put Sebro slotted rotors, but I may upgrade the rears as well.
Beautiful set up and Ill keep that in mind.
Better Bodies sells one that looks pretty good. I just got the updated invoice from RPM so hopefully Ill be ordering this week.
Chunk,
Question about your ducktail. I'm going to order one from/RPM. Yours is the EVO, correct? Is there a reason you went with that over the "Standard"? I live in Tennessee, and wondering if the EVO would be better with the extra cooling vents. I prefer the look of the Standard, but don't want to fry my engine.
Your car looks great, love the posts.
Dave
I just installed some girodisk rotors as well. I couldnt tell any difference on the street at all. Hoping the extra cooling (along with ducts) holds up to some abuse better than stock rotors.
Thats the beauty of the Giro they are designed to operate as stock but the extra size helps in cooling and caliper grip
remember the stock brakes are fabulous
I had my car to 155 last weekend the brakes performed perfectly many times at speed I look at them as OEM+
