This issue is proving really difficult to diagnose as sometimes I'll be able to make a 90 minute drive with no issues, but then I'll take a trip down the block and it will go in to this limp mode.

Checking the wiring is something I will do, but isn't exactly the easiest thing to do with the location of the two plugs.

So far I've replaced the MAF with a brand new Bosch unit, I've replaced the throttle body with a used one that was thoroughly cleaned, I've cleaned the contacts on the TB and the plug for it, I've performed several TB calibrations, and I've inspected the wiring (as much as I can see anyways) for any damage and found none.

I thought the same thing, and swapped another throttle body on, and the issue was unchanged, so it definitely has me more convinced that it's a wiring issue.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey guys, I'm hoping someone would be able to offer some insight / help on this one. I've been dealing with this problem for a while now and really am struggling to figure this out. I'm intermittently getting the two fault codes mentioned in the title (P1120 and P1122). As far as I'm able to determine there's no rhyme or reason to cause these to come one. What is happening is that I'll be driving the car normally and sometimes it will be fine, I'll be able to get to / from my destination with no problems. Other times I'll make it 5 minutes down the road and the car will drop in to limp mode and throw these faults. The limp mode I'm experiencing is a maximum throttle opening of 30% and the throttle will not work if you're pressing the brake pedal. This issue is proving really difficult to diagnose as sometimes I'll be able to make a 90 minute drive with no issues, but then I'll take a trip down the block and it will go in to this limp mode. There is no CEL on, and cycling the key generally resets the issue. Any suggestions or insight would be GREATLY appreciated.

POST 2Original post

They are throtle position sensor codes not maf codes. U have an electrical issue going to the sensor or the sensor is bad. U need to ohm out the wiring for continuity back to the dme and clean the plug for starters. Make sure the pins r all straight. There r a ton of threads if u google the codes

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 17425923

I have cleaned the connectors (mentioned) and the vast majority of the threads (of which there really aren't all that many) were resolved by swapping the TB or left unanswered. I definitely googled it before posting here, issue I have is that it's super intermittent and not something I'm able to reproduce on command. Checking the wiring is something I will do, but isn't exactly the easiest thing to do with the location of the two plugs.

POST 4Original post

Bentey manuals have the wiring diagrams. I can test them back to the large round harness connectors on the passenger side if thats easier. From what i saw u probably need a tb. Maybe someone has upgraded theirs and u can buy or borrow it to test if yours is bad. Also there r plenty of porsche dismantlers u can get a used one from.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I thought the same thing, and swapped another throttle body on, and the issue was unchanged, so it definitely has me more convinced that it's a wiring issue. I'm not sure exactly which pins are what in the connector though.

POST 6Original post

Again the Bentley manual has complete diagrams for several years. I doubt i will have time to look it all up but maybe someone else can Also u failed to give us any details on your car
