I replaced all the interior bulbs with LEDs and it really updated the look, this is an upgrade in that vein as well.

The seller accidentally only sent me one set so I'm waiting for the other set to arrive for the 996.2.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

25 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi eveyrone: By chance, has anyone tried to adapt the new LED door Porsche logo projector puddle lights to our era? Part no. 9Y0 044 910 I know you would have to modify the opening on the door panel, but... we are a clever bunch.

POST 2Original post

U can get them on amazon cheap, u just have to adapt the plug. I soldered leads on the lights and just tapped them into the wire.

POST 3Original post

I got mine off Ebay and love 'em. Had to splice wires. No other mods needed. Need to buy a spare pair just for the shelf, but can't find them now, arghhhhh!

Jim, your links in your build thread don't have them anymore. I can't find any links anymore for 996 Puddles. Do the 997 Puddle lights fit in our door panels?

POST 7Original post

I ordered two sets of these: https://www.addcarlights.com/product...o-door-lights/ They fit my wife's 986.2 Boxster and had spliced pigtails already attached. The seller accidentally only sent me one set so I'm waiting for the other set to arrive for the 996.2. I'm impressed with how sharp the image is. Much sharper than the vanity puddle lights I had on my 970.1 Pano.

Ahh! Great find! Just ordered 2 sets, so we'll see! Thanks!

POST 9Original post

What did you buy, model B? Found some diy for the 997 and I think it would be about the same for the 996. https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...projector.html

POST 10Original post

Quotes source post: 18349555

Yes, went model B, style A. Should be good, I'll just figure out the harness part.

POST 11Original post

Actually, i saw that link when I was looking at how to do this. I don't know if the ones ordered come with a harness. If not, I'll locate some.

POST 12Original post

I need those for the Caterham doors. Oh, wait.

POST 13Original post

Quotes source post: 18349578

I ordered the "B" style and the harnesses came already attached.

POST 14Original post

Nice, picking up a pair. I replaced all the interior bulbs with LEDs and it really updated the look, this is an upgrade in that vein as well.

Mine didn't come with pigtails but I found these on Ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/133699622247 . To anyone doing this, do future owners of your car a favor and don't hack up the stock wiring.

POST 16Original post

My 40 Jahre puddle lights came with a small pigtail that ended in two spade plugs- the fit right into the existing wiring plug.

POST 17Original post

They confirmed that harnesses will come with the lights, so it should be perfectly compatible. No hacking of OE harnesses here.

POST 18Original post

I got these installed, the included connector was not the exact size male end, but it was smaller so it still fit into the original connector, albeit a bit loosely. Wiring orientation did not matter. 2 days of doors opening/closing hasn't popped the light out or unhooked the wires, so far so good.

POST 19Original post

Quotes source post: 18375649

Interesting, do you have a pic? I couldn't get the harness to fit no matter what

POST 20Original post

Im really interested in these. https://www.addcarlights.com/product...o-door-lights/ Im assuming Porsche Model B and style B. So can anyone confirm that it is a direct bolt in in terms of wiring or do we need to do some modification?

POST 21Original post

Here's the unit and wiring harness I received (model b), plugged into the black connector which originally held the bulb assembly.

POST 22Original post

Quotes source post: 18380314

Thanks for the pic! I think I will be ordering these. Looks like a nice upgrade and pretty cheap as well.

POST 23Original post

Are you worried about the hot wire possibly grounding and sparking in the door?

POST 24Original post

Not overly, but I do want to tidy up that connection somehow, not sure what with yet.
