Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

When I replaced the emission stickers the dealer ordered them based on the VIN.

Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've been looking at the placement of the decals on the engine decklid for my new 4S Aero spoiler. Upon looking at various Aero decklids, and even between my 2003 4S decklid and a boneyard 2003 4S decklid I cannibalized parts from, the decal placement is not consistent. Was there not a standard of decal placement or did Hans just stick them wherever he felt that day? Specifically does anybody have a factory 4S Aero decklid that can take pics of where the decals have been placed?
996 [narrow body] Aero Decklid: Decal placement is not consistent
2003 4S Decklids: My 2003 on top and the boneyard 2003 on the bottom.
That's the conclusion I came to when I was researching sticker placement for my Carrera wing decklid. I ended up just putting them where they seemed to fit best.
This is a pic I saved of your type of decklid when I was researching years ago.
Sticker placement on the standard decklid seems to be much more uniform. This pic is my '99 lid that was on the car when I bought it.
When I replaced the emission stickers the dealer ordered them based on the VIN. As it has the year model on the sticker, that'd be the way to go, especially if you have to pass smog inspections.
I purchased mine through Pelican Parts by using the part numbers found on the stickers and in the PET.
I can look up my order and get the correct part numbers, or you can search the PET, they're in there somewhere.
I got the part numbers by the free Porsche part catalog. If you have an existing decklid with decals then you can see the small part number that most of the decals have. Note that the emission decal (#3, 996-006-109-xx) is based on the year of the vehicle. Not sure which one of the #7 decal are really needed. I recall one being for a convertible when I looked it up on a dealer parts website. Also costs have doubled or more from Tex's post in the last few years like most 996 parts.
Hmm, I actually have spares of all(most) of the decals.
I bought them for my 3rd rear deck with the GT3RS wing.
I changed my mind on using them and plan to cover that deck underside with an adhesive heat mat.
I'll offer up the decals for free in the pay-it-forward thread when I get a chance.
