Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Never been a huge fan of silver lobsters, but what you did with them has changed my opinion.
Leading evidence: 'Replace opinion' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'lobsters' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace opinion' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I got my Apex SM-10 wheels when they ran a sale and happen to think that anthracite tends to look really good on gray cars.

Not a fan of either, but if I had to choose, probably the lobsters.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I don't like lobsters, but somehow I like those HREs even less.
this car currently on BAT wheres the lobsters very well, with spacers (which would be my vote)
Lobster Forks all day. It's one of the wheels I think of when I think of Porsche. Not feeling the HRE at all. I hunted a set of lobster forks for a while but couldn't find them in a narrow body fitment so ended up with some new Apex SM-10 for similar money.
Voting neither! simply lacks the flow and 18s are much better look on 996s,

Not a fan of either, but if I had to choose, probably the lobsters. I love HRE, but not those ones.
But hey, to each other own! If you like em, that's all that matters.
It's a good point about the wheel size. 18" is a really smart size and if ride quality is important that will help. I got my Apex SM-10 wheels when they ran a sale and happen to think that anthracite tends to look really good on gray cars. I'm biased obviously but here is a shot for reference:
Thanks for the responses!
A bit of background:
The HRE wheels came on the car when I bought it last year. I never really loved them, but knew HRE made good, lightweight wheels. So I didnt rush to find replacements.
Recently, a set of lobster wheels went up for sale locally. I grabbed them to get closer to a factory-type setup. But after installing them, I realized the silver wheels on a silver car was a little underwhelming.
Im kinda on the fence between the two, but not really thinking of buying a THIRD set of wheels! Haha!
Maybe the lobster wheels would look better painted a darker color. Not black, but maybe dark gray? Or just leave it and run em for a while.
If you're going to go with the claws, paint them a combo of three colors, those wheels have a lot of potential to look amazing! In colors, but I personally still don't like the looks...
QUOTE=James88;17616178]I've ordered these silver BBS RI-A Wheels for my silver 996.2 coupe.
[/QUOTE]
Those are actually the BBS FI in the pic. 19 x 8.75 et50 and 19 x 12 et50 (which we have in stock after 1 yr wait) for widebody 996/997

Theyre very similar.
This is what l ordered in 18"
The HREs are 19. Lmk if youre still interested. Maybe we can work a deal. The rears have new Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires as of this spring. Less than 200 miles.
I was considering keeping the set and switching now and then. When they are shiny and polished, they do look nice! Much better in person than what comes through in the pics.
The wheel on the right is clean. On the left, not so much.
Not really a fan of the HREs. Unsure on the offset in the rear, but they also appear to be sticking out a little, like they may be wide body wheels. But hard to tell in the picture.
Im clearly biased, but I like mine. 14mm spacer in front.
I jumped in and painted the wheels, leaving the outer rim lip silver. It is not black, but a bit darker than I intended. Oh well. I still dig it over the HRE wheels and the solid silver.
Many things are like that. Polarizing. The only reason I spoke so bluntly was because the OP asked. Of course, it turns out the guy already made his choice so I probably should have kept quiet. 😐
Kelly, the car and lobsters look damn good in black with silver outer rims. Never been a huge fan of silver lobsters, but what you did with them has changed my opinion. Ducktail looks awesome as well. Whose ducktail is it? RPM?
OP - Gotta say I was on the fence about the aero rockers w/o aero front, but with the ducktail, there is a striking visual balance. Consider a GT3 lip on your current bumper cover. The lobsters look great. Well done.
Non-aero front with normal GT3 lip.
Thanks! The duck tail is a classic 911 look I always wanted, so when I got this car, I added it. I kept the original equipment and can swap back without much trouble.
I think the rockers were optioned that way in 2003. Ive thought about adding a front lip. Just a little worried about curbs and driveways.I do agree, they look great.
The 2 tone is great! The 2 tone would probably be good with a gun metal gray in the middle as well.
For me the lobsters are kind of a mess. 10 holes with 2 different sizes, and the open rectangles at the rim. It doesn't flow well for me. Darker inside subdues this lack of flow.
