I recently changed my transmission fluid to Motul Gear 300 and immediately since then had noticed (intermittently) that the lever does not want to engage into 3rd from 2nd.

'04 C4S 6MT w/ 103+K miles I recently changed my transmission fluid to Motul Gear 300 and immediately since then had noticed (intermittently) that the lever does not want to engage into 3rd from 2nd. (No grinding and no problem when car is parked). It never did before I changed the fluid but could just be coincidence. What actually helps is if I just allow the lever to pop into neutral before I go to 3rd than no problem. I aligned my shifter cables (thank you SleepyCyclist) today w/o any improvement to above but it did stop the intermittent difficulty going into 1st gear from a stop. Before I go into draining and replacing the fluid again I am thinking it may be the actual cable at its connection point on the transmission. I will have to look underneath if there is anything abnormal. If i am going to change the fluid again I am thinking Mobil Delvac or just suck it up and get Porsche's. Oh hell I need to change the fluid again don't I? May have to wait. Tomorrows project is replacing the AOS, water pump, thermostat, and complete coolant flush.

Definitely check cable ends at the transmission. If they�re starting to pop out of their seats, either zip tie or safety wire them. If the Motul fluid is Porsche/Getrag approved it shouldn�t make a difference - especially only on one gear/synchro... weird!

I experienced a change in willingness to shift when switching to Motul Gear 300. I went back to OEM and everything is back to normal. Not sure why it didn't work for me but others have success. Let us know what you think after the change to OEM fluid.
