Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, TL R - need advice on lowering seat. I just had the awesome experience of going to my first track day with the 996. I am extremely happy that a) IMS did not go b) cylinder head did not crack c) cooling was excellent d) oil pressure as well, BUT! I rented a helmet OMP like on the pic and was extremely uncomfortable as my head was constantly banging against the ceiling, I am 6"2, and have the factory manual sport seats. So my question; Will Recaro Pole positions significantly lower my seating position? (should I have a fixed mount?) Other ideas? Is there a helmet with and low profile that you could recommend? Thanks!

Thanks would you know by how much ?

POST 4Original post

Im 6-4 and have pole positions on recaro sliders with b-k auto mounts. I fit fine with a helmet, but i also fit with a stick seat so... U can get the Planted mounts and skip the sliders and get the seat about another inch lower. If u need a helmet give Naroescape in NC a call. They r a site sponsor and real good to work with. They carry a Roux unit that i really like for the price. https://naroescapemotorsports.com/pr...sa2020-helmet/

Thanks a heap, would love to give a call to the but I am currently stationed in Europe :-(, shipping here from the states is horrid. If I would get the planted mounts, how do you adjust the forward and back position?

POST 6Original post

These are the best deal on a FIA rated FG shell seat, company is great to work with too https://www.murraymotorsport.com/grid-q-fibreglass-seat

POST 7Original post

I was having a hard time getting a Recaro Profi XL to sit low enough in my 996, even hard mounted to the plated base with the Recaro side mounts the seat still sat a bit too high. It would have worked without a helmet, but my goal was to have a car for the street and track. After a fair bit of research, and a bit of dumb luck (one for sale locally) I went with the Cobra Nagaro. It isn't a full race seat, but the seat is designed to sit down low using the factory side mounts. The mounts flare out, and then the seat itself has cutouts so it can drop below the sliders. You can see what I mean in the picture below. I have the drivers side mounted up with sliders and I have plenty of room for a helmet (I'm 6'3"). The full setup I used for the drivers side: Cobra AL side mounts, Recaro sliders, and a Planted seat based adapter.

the original owner of my car had material taken out of the (sport) seat cushion within weeks of delivery to lower it. It's quite a bit lower than my passenger seat when you're in it- probably bought an inch of room. That might be enough for you. You'd never know to look at it. It's held up for 200k kms so, no ill effects that I can see.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
