Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Theres a rumble (or bump) when I drive SLOWLY in my new 996. Every driveway, road anomaly, speed bump causes an annoying, albeit low volume, sound from the front. Other than this, the car rides beautifully at high speeds, on twisty roads, etc. Its a 99 coupe, so after 22+ years Im expecting my mechanic to potentially tell me the bushings, rod ends, arms, etc. are old, worn, and in need to replacement. Im not mechanical, as you may be able to tell from my above list of components, and Im not knowledgeable about aftermarket options, so Im seeking advice 1. Does it make sense to replace several components at once, and if so which ones would you suggest? 2. Are there aftermarket options to consider? 3. Any idea what this kind of refresh might set me back? THANK YOU! 🙏🙏

POST 2Original post

Obviously it will be better to replace all the components in the front suspension, but I would save that until you will need strut replacement. to resolve your clucking issue, you will need to replace control arm part 99634104306. TRW and Meyle are good OE brands.

POST 3Original post

Bad strut top plate bushings r know to do this. Just bite the bullet and order the kit from fcpeuro and replace all the links. The car...... and u deserve it.
