Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
I test drove a car with the base seats, and my 4S has supple leather, I can say there is no discernable difference other than the style, so I think that would be a personal preference.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

While searching for a 996, I've noticed there are 3 different types of seats available (not including the GT cars).
There are the sport style seats with the bulbous shoulder supports. Then we have the two other types, easily differentiated by the horizontal lines in the center section leather...one seat has them, the other does not and has smooth center sections.
In terms of comfort and performance, are there differences between the latter two? I haven't has enough seat time to determine myself as of yet and would love some input.
Thanks!
Of the latter two, the underlying foam cushions are the same regardless of the upholstery covering. I doubt there is any real difference in terms of comfort or performance between the two other than a perceived one.
Base (perforated inserts)
Supple (boomer pleated inserts, $400 option)
Sport seats (hard back, may be matte black plastic or painted from factory)
GT fixed Recaro
Yup, that ^^^ pretty much covers it
the other option is heat, but thats just an element that sits beneath the covers... same on both draped and perforated... Almost forgot, theres the manual/power options - 8 way power w/memory, or manual...
Amazing! I'm at work and am limited with my posting
So between the base seats and the supple leather, no real big difference overall? Also asling as I have a chance to pick up a set of supple seats that match my incoming 996 with the base seats, and I can get them for a great price. Worth the change or not? Also asking as the original base seats in the car, while good overall, has the driver's side outside latch (to fold the seat forward) is missing and would have to be installed. I could get the set of supple leather seats (in perfect shape) for $300. Wondering if it's worh simply swapping.
300$ is worth buying IMO, even if just to keep in case.

Turbo/gt2 Front Seat Front Seat Complete Not Available (autoatlanta.com)
Ignore the Turbo/GT2 reference. 99652132302 is the same part # for all the different driver seats 986/996 '99 and newer. I can't come over and put it on for you, but surround first first, then the ****.
Seriously - it's about a 5 minute job. The rosette should push into place, the **** will as well. Easy.
Well that solves that problem for me then...
Thanks!
I'll install what's necessary, and if I find issue with the seats then I'll think about switching them out.
