If a Porsche dealership did in fact replaced the engine, then you have the exact same displacement as OEM, 3.4L.

Did the dealership replace the M96 with a different engine during these replacements?

Incidentally, the M96 exists in lower displacements - for example, the 986 Boxster uses a smaller displacement version of the M96.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So I purchased my first porsche a few weeks ago, and have been sifting through the piles of maintence paperwork the previous owner handed over.
Apparantly the entire motor was replaced at roughly 50k miles by the dealership under warranty.
Fast foward to today, and I'm looking at the maintence work a reputable porsche shop has been doing, and I notice the engine listed is a 3.2L. I was always under the impression that the 996 911 came with either a 3.4L or 3.6L. Did the dealership replace the M96 with a different engine during these replacements? I
The simplist solution is usually the right one, and I'm guessing it's something that they just glossed over and didn't really pay attention to when rining up the bill. This shop has done everything from a custom tune, belts, gaskets/seals, water pump, etc, etc. so they've supplied/ordered parts.
A dealer would not swap a different displacement motor in as warranty work, if ever.
Either a data entry error or the inventory item they use to check in customer cars is incorrect.
Incidentally, the M96 exists in lower displacements - for example, the 986 Boxster uses a smaller displacement version of the M96.

If a Porsche dealership did in fact replaced the engine, then you have the exact same displacement as OEM, 3.4L. The shop just wrote down the wrong number (most likely).
