Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey guys, I ran into an issue installing my fully adjustable Rennline Gas Pedal today. When trying to connect the accelerator cable linkage to the pedal arm, it turns out it doesn't fit. There's a ball bearing style insert in there that prevents it from sliding in. And no amount of forcing is gonna get it in there. What's odd is that the pedal arm is actually narrower at this point where it is supposed to attached. It would've fit perfectly at the wider spot. I've got an email out to Rennline as well for support. Just sucks the car is out of commission until I get this resolved. And reverting back to stock pedal isn't so easy after all the modifications to make this pedal fit. I'm kicking myself SO hard for not testing the fit of that linkage ahead of time. Lesson learned. :-( this is where it's supposed to go in - you can see the holes where the bolt would go through. Here's another angle. No way that sucker is sliding up into that narrow section - although that's where it's supposed to go.

Dremel and grinding wheel. Maybe a little messy, but looks like a couple of hits with the grinder and your in. Hold the cable steady with some vice-grips and a piece of wood.

POST 3Original post

How much is it missing by? Is it possible to grind the edges/flat sides of the bearing? If not, how about spreading the sides of the channel a bit so you can squeeze the rod end in? Seems very strange theyd send a rod end that doesnt fit where its supposed to (especially for a relatively expensive part like the adjustable gas pedal... very sloppy!). Hopefully theyll send the right part quickly enough that you dont have to do the modding...Good luck

Agree that it seems messy to send a part that doesn't fit on such a pricey part. I'm going to give them the chance to remedy before doing any grinding/dremmeling. I just hate the idea of having to mod a part like that to make it fit. Super appreciate the help, though, guys!

Loosen the top two socket head screws. You should be able to spread the two walls open enough to slip the rod end in and retighten the top two screws.
