Get the band style pipe clamps (they use large versions of them on big rigs) to secure them to the catalytic end pipes and you are done.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, I plan to get a set of muffler bypass pipes for my vehicle and was wondering if there are any decent options other than Fabspeed? I am not paying that much even though I know they make good stuff. Any recommendations would be great as I have seen some ebay kits that range from $150-$250.

POST 2Original post

any muffler shop maybe able to help you. your neighbors are gonna love ya............NOT

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I think my neighbors already hate me lol. I have a 1987 Bmw 3 series with no cat

POST 4Original post

I just bought a pair from ebay. The Fabspeed pipes are overpriced these are just metal pipes after all. Mine wont be going on the car until around May or June but when I receive them i'll comment on quality, should be here in the next couple weeks.

POST 5Original post

All you need are two 90 degree elbows. Then you can put whatever tips or none on it. Get the band style pipe clamps (they use large versions of them on big rigs) to secure them to the catalytic end pipes and you are done. Don't really need a muffler shop other then asking them to bend you a couple elbows for you. They don;t have to be mandrel bent as no one can see it and it doesn't really mater anyways.

POST 6Original post

I got mine used on ebay 5 years ago. Still holding up just fine. The tips even clean up well still.

What Imo000 said... I've fabricated my own intake using aluminum parts from this company. Stainless steel pre-bent pipes are also available: http://www.frozenboost.com/dsm-intercooler-piping/

POST 8Original post

Hello Varsorama, are you going to the March 7th CPA event? I'm planning on going and have a nice exhaust system on my car that you may want to hear before you start buying parts... Not all combinations sound good, so always try and see what works before you do it on your own! I currently have a set of headers... Crossover pipes and BB full flo mufflers... Sounds great and scars little children! Slightly loud... But in a good way! Let me know if your going... We happen to have the same car but mines a track rat turned street car... Would be interesting to compare!

POST 9Original post

i bought the $150 set from Ebay, good fit, finish and welding. Its a simple piece of fabricated pipes. you will need to buy a new set of clamps. Sounds great and yes pretty loud, but its not my daily driver so loudness and droning is not an issue.

POST 10Original post

I thought this would help you guys out. This is onboard gopro video, but shot with an olympus external mic that has a windscreen on it. My car is a 40th anniversary, but it's a stock x51 engine other than the ebay muffler bypass.
