Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

When changing to new brakes I spotted this leak, to the left side of the engine. It does not drip and there is only a wet spot. I run Mobile1 0w40 oil, have some sporaddic drips from my (3rd) RMS. Will change to 5w50 oil soon. Also there is "normal" oil consumption and coolant level is stabile. No fault codes to report from computer or durametric. No sounds and good performance. POST 2Original post

Thats the bank 1 chain tensioner. This is a leak prone area. Park the engine at TDC #1 and remove the tensioner. Source a new sealing ring and coat it with Dreibond 1209, and reinstall. That should solve it. If you are on RMS#3, has someone verified the crankshaft is centered in the RMS bore? Also consider that a leak that appears to be an RMS might not be.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Phew thank you. Did some research and it does not seem like too big a job or expensive. The RMS was done by official Porsche workshop when doing clutch and ims. They did the RMS twice under warranty the coming year. Now I just do not give a damn about it. But will change to a thicker oil as I mentioned as a last try.

Been there too. I have given up on the Porsche approved mechanics! I just accept the odd drop. Next clutch/IMS I will have a look. I'm on 5-50 oil but really did little difference. I get a drop maybe every second week...I look at it as "personality"
