Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that report identifying a cause

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Reported cause
With the huge outbreak of bore scoring that happened 20 months ago, the issue is no longer something we see primarily from colder climates.
Leading evidence: 'no longer something we see primarily' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'no longer something we see primarily' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace oil every year or 3k' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I recall hearing someplace that it was more likely a cold weather place issue.

I was changing the oil every year or 3k but I guess I will change that to every 6 months and have tested to track any changes.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Sitting around last night I started watching the Raby video's on cylinder scoring. I start watching thinking why am I doing this to myself. Surprising I left feeling a lot better afterwards.
No ticking, car doesn't burn a drop of oil in the 2k I've driven. No soot in the tail pipes.
I was changing the oil every year or 3k but I guess I will change that to every 6 months and have tested to track any changes. I'll also track oil consumption. Oh, never warm up car, just start and drive keeping under 3k until warmed up.
Thanks Jake.
Side note: It's nice to know I am driving an environmentally friendly car.
Not one of those earth dangerous air cooled 911's.
In closing, I thought I was finally having a nice 996 day when yesterday I got my warped rim fixed and installed and got my radio woes fixed with a used amp. This just capped it off. Went to bed with a smile.
Now the whole Ovaling thing wasn't discussed.
I recall hearing someplace that it was more likely a cold weather place issue. Now if true, is it because the cylinders distort just sitting around cold in storage (what is cold) or is it related to letting a car sit at idle, or other or is the answer even known?
I am thinking I can drive now in the winter, just don't let the car idle.
With the huge outbreak of bore scoring that happened 20 months ago, the issue is no longer something we see primarily from colder climates. We now see Bore Scoring from all across the USA, and through Canada. I just finished a Georgia case, and have an Alabama case here now, but the Alabama case is really a Florida case. The current owner bought the car in Florida, and drove it home to Alabama, where it then immediately showed signs of bore scoring. He performed a bore scope evaluation, and it was definitive.
Those are just a couple of recent cases. We continue to get reports every few days, and my videos have helped a lot of people to scope the cylinders, themselves.
