You don't HAVE to do a flush before using DT40, if you can afford it, go ahead, it does make a small difference.

No question DT40 is good oil ...but stupid expensive for my annual 5k oil changes and street use only ride.

DT40 is a 5W40 oil. If you go this route, do the flush with BR30 or BR40 first.

About 200-300 miles. Research some of Rennlister "Kevin" threads in the 996 Turbo and 997 Turbo Forums for additional oil recommendations. Hint- Mobil 5W50 is an excellent choice for you.
