Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Reported cause
Unfortunately I replaced my pulleys before finding out it was the water pump on my previous 996.
Leading evidence: 'water pump' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'water pump' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check water pump' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I had all of them along with the tensioner replaced.

Just to be sure, get the car in the air and check the water pump for any signs of leakage.

Suggestion
I dropped by my trusted indy after replacing pulleys, he put a long handled screw driver on the water pump and I could feel a vibration at the same time as the noise.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all, my 911 has 776xx miles now, changed the oil and filter 17xx miles ago (last month, yes July) anyways Sat I washed it and went for a spirited drive after. When I got home I heard this high pitched squeal/ kind of the noise my swaybar makes with the tie ends.
I'm thinking this noise in the video is a pully? or something, about 3 min into it I put the phone in my pocket thinking it is off, but I do rev the engine a bit and the squeal stops about 2k rpms. Any insite is helpful.

I can post a video/audio clip I made of my Turbo in which the audio is very much like that, almost identical.
Idler roller was bad. I had all of them along with the tensioner replaced.

Ha thanks, I like the pants comments
at the office everyone knows its a good day when I'm in them lol.
I think it is the idler pulley after some research, the water pump was recently done from the PO and there are not any issues with cooling. I just needed to hear it wasn't scorn cylinder noise
so I'm happy to know it should be something minor. The belt looks and feels good (will have to double check, but I think that was newish as well).
Agree with all of the above either water pump or pulleys. Unfortunately I replaced my pulleys before finding out it was the water pump on my previous 996.

Went on travel, came back and saw a little water leak.
It can also be an old dried up belt. Spray some wd40 on the belt while running if it goes away then its the belt.
Btw your exhaust sound great! What do you have?

Sorry about the noise at the end. I moved closer but got into the air blast of the engine compartment fan which runs all the time on that car.
Oh, and do not spray WD-40 on the belt.
Replace the noisy idler rollers or less likely the water pump and the belt if it is due based on age or miles, but leave the WD-40 on the shelf.
Lubricating something that requires friction to work properly isn't something I'd do, either.
Every surface the belt touches is rotating - there shouldn't be any case where the belt needs to be lubricated to work correctly.
