Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

When I checked then, the closest garage near me w/ space to rent was almost a mile away and cost $300 a month.
Leading evidence: 'Check then, the closest garage' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check then, the closest garage' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I hope there's a special place in hell for this parking guru:
Backstory to the topic line... I've decided to do the sacrilegious thing and treat my 996 as my daily driver, so I'm street parking it. A parking spot in Boston is $300-400/mo, so I figure if my bumpers sustain less body damage than that per month, I win.
Well this month... I lost
Ouch. That sucks. Had something similar happen at a hardware store with someone running up their shopping cart against my rear bumper. Enough force to put in nice 2 long gouges.
lol
Maybe protection but also challenging the idiots .

not to be that dude, but geesh. you are parking on the street...In Boston in all places and then get aggravated when someone bumps your "beater"...Im more disappointed in you for thinking this wouldnt happen than pissed at the person that bumped you. Did you seriously think this wouldnt happen?
Woah, there, my post was made in jest. Sure I expected parking dings, just not someone to basically drive over the bumper. I already shrugged it off, **** happens, oh well.
I got the car in April. When I checked then, the closest garage near me w/ space to rent was almost a mile away and cost $300 a month. It's just not worth it to me to do that when I can park on within a block or two on the street for free. By now I'd have spent $1,200 and have had to walk 15 minutes to my car, only to prevent some scrapes. I know, city living isn't for everyone.
But diminished value? Ha! It's a bumper skin, piece of cake to repaint after the winter.
I wasnt trying to come across as a jackass
Boston is one of those towns where your car will get beat to **** parking on the street though...My bad if I sounded cross.
Yeah, might as well just leave the bumper like it is. No more worries about damage if it's already damaged, and maybe you'll get "lucky" and have someone damage it bad enough their insurance company will replace it for you for free.
Some rubbing compound will buff out the scratches.
You can lightly sand the damaged paint. ( I did not see any damage other than paint ? ) Spray paint from Dr.color chip some more rubbing compound, some body color wax..and it's a passable DIY repair.
I'd do that vs hassle with insurance and deductible and increased rates etc. Since you are street parking it anyway it does not need a showroom finish as it most likely will get banged often. It's just a few hours DIY mostly watching paint dry. If you fix small things your self as they happen your car will feel better and you will too !
Boston, NYC, San Francisco are cities where you don't park on the street unless you are OK with your car's exterior being compromised.
If you are **** about car's appearance, parking on the street in those three cities will cost you 1,000s of dollars every year. Porsche will also attract all kinds of "hater" marks, sad but true. There are some sad people out there who purposefully go to the long-term air port parking structures and key the expensive cars parked there.
