Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Putting oil pan back on. Many say 7.5 Nm. Bentley says 10Nm. My torque wrench doesn't go that low and local stores didn't have one. (I always like any excuse to buy a new tool.) Can someone describe the feel? As hard I can tighten a screwdriver with one hand? 6" long quarter inch ratchet as hard as I can just using wrist? Took more than second one to loosen, but I don't think that means much.

POST 2Original post

Definitely not "as hard as" anything! It's just snug. I just tested my torque wrench at 7Nm (5.2 ft lbs). If i choke up to 3 inches lever length, I can still pull it to click with only my pinky finger. 5 ft lbs is descriptive. 5lbs of force on a 12in lever.
