In hunting for the part number I found a few used Tacos that sold <$1k and I remember a CL add months ago (last year?) for one around $500.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Right color(very picky), year, mileage, options, trans, int, price, etc. Great car but I think I can't live without an Aero wing on back, and maybe the front air dam too. How much am I looking at for a very well done aftermarket Aero kit or maybe just Aero wing painted and installed? I can do mech work, but I don't want to mess with body and paint anymore. Really like the car, but without Aero wing it's another ho-hum 996. Sorry. Recommendations for a shop somewhere between SoCal and east TX?

POST 2Original post

Aftermarket aero front bumper cover and a nice wing are gonna cost you close to $2,000. Then painting. So, if you're frugal, you're looking at $2,500. And then you don't have a true aerokit car. Keep looking. Spend the extra $3,000 to $4,000 to get a factory aerokit car. Hey, what happened to that gorgeous guards red car with the Carrera aerokit on it? Man, that thing was sweet. I think they wanted $23k for it, which was $5k too high, but still, that was a great looking car.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, that's a good start. I"m gonna go look at the red car when the seller gets back to town. He's high on price but it does have the Carerra wing which isn't taco but still rather nice. It's been offered for > month which reflects his pricing.

POST 4Original post

I think your numbers are low KC. Suncoast wants $2k for the front bumper, $80 for the chin spoiler, $850 for the side skirts, and $560 for the winglets. They don't list the Taco wing, but they have the "Carrera" wing for $6k and that's about what I recall the Taco being when last time I looked up their prices. Obviously if you hunt around and find a used one you can do much better. Ouch! From the bumper description on Suncoast:

POST 5Original post

I guess you answered your own question: if it's "ho-hum" (to you), then it's not "perfect" (for you). One really fun and useful thing about conducting a proper search for your new Carrera is that it reveals and sorts your true priorities. Lots of cars out there, and you're smart to Keep Looking until the right one finds you. As it will! Happy hunting.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

OMFG!! Is Suncoast some kind of super-retail place? Six thousand dollars for the Carrera wing, and that isn't even painted. Holy spit. I was thinking $3k for the wing painted and installed a maybe a grand for the spoiler but that is just stupid money. Are there other offerings? I've never shopped for any 996 bits before. The ones on ebay sell around $1500 unpainted but I'm guessing add another $500-700 for a good paint job.

Nope, the OEM parts aren't cheap no matter where you go. Welcome to Porsche pricing my friend. If you have the Xenon headlights, I don't suggest you look into what a new housing will cost. You might start sleeping next to the car with a shotgun... If you don't want a heart attack, I suggest you don't consider retrofitting an OEM GT2 wing ... (clicked on the TT/GT2 section by accident looking to see if they had the retail price of the Taco wing) Edit: ECS wants $5200ish for the Taco

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, I was thinking the aftermarket type, not Porsche made. I guess that's the diff, if I want aftermarket around $2500 all in for the wing installed, if I want genuine Porsche > $6k. Sorry, but considering the price of the car I'm looking at no way in hell will I be putting 1/3 of the value of the car on the back facia. I might consider $2500 or so, plus maybe an air dam or something but those prices are out there.

POST 10Original post

Indeed, I wouldn't convert to a factory Taco. Much cheaper to wait it out and buy the right car with it installed. You can always watch CL and eBay though. In hunting for the part number I found a few used Tacos that sold <$1k and I remember a CL add months ago (last year?) for one around $500. Unless it has been damaged, there really isn't much to go wrong with the wing so a used one isn't an overly risky proposition. Though if you couldn't verify it's actually history (e.g. no repairs) I wouldn't trust it for serious track work, but that level is probably well beyond most of us here.

POST 11Original post

Doc, This is part of the reason I searched high and low till I found a car that already had the taco kit. The other reason being my type-A'ness needed to have "XAA" on the underhood options sticker. Keep searching, IMHO.
