Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I'm happier spending "insurance" money as opposed to "repair" money, subsequently, could I ask you to advise a critical list of parts that you would do if you were doing this build?
Leading evidence: 'Repair " money, subsequently, could i ask you' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Repair " money, subsequently, could i ask you' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

While the engine is out, I'm going to replace the clutch and the already replaced IMS bearing as I'm advised that they only last 4 years!

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all
My 996 C2 (1999) is finally in the workshop having a VF3 SuperCharger fitted. To start with I'm going to run it with very low pressure - probably 4psi as I'm nervous about stress loads etc. If this is all running well, I may upgrade the pulleys to a 6psi system.
While the engine is out, I'm going to replace the clutch and the already replaced IMS bearing as I'm advised that they only last 4 years! Now this seems crazy to me, but I'm going to do it anyway - better now than after its exploded!
I'm also considering an Accusump and a deep oil pan system to maintain oil pressures and oil cooling etc. Does anyone think these two additions are overkill, or a good investment in what will end up being a quite expensive engine in the end.
Also, are there any other "insurance" mods that I should be considering too?
Thanks for your time!!

If the oiling system proves inadequate you could end up with a quite expensive *busted* engine in the end. Imagine how you'd like that.
A deeper (coupled with an extended oil pick up tube) and better baffled oil sump plate/pan would be a smart addition to the engine.
And I second kromdom's excellent suggestion regarding a 3rd radiator.
The engine will be making from 50hp to 75hp more than stock. This means the engine is generating way more heat. The stock cooling system is probably adequate but I note you live in Australia and will likely encounter some pretty high ambient temperatures at times. I think you should give the engine any extra margin in the cooling department you can.
I think the VF supercharger comes with the third radiator as part of the "kit"... I think the Accusump and the deep pan are a good idea as well as possibly a low temp thermostat and perhaps the spin on oil filter adapter (what's another $150 when you're already dumping $10,000 in there...)...Good Luck
Radiator, thermostat, Accusump, and have them take a real good look at the heads, valve seats, and rod bolts (if possible). New drive chains and tensioners might be wise at this point.
Hi there, I note your reply with great interest - and this may seem like a simplistic question that will need a complex answer, but which internals in particular would you upgrade?
I'm happier spending "insurance" money as opposed to "repair" money, subsequently, could I ask you to advise a critical list of parts that you would do if you were doing this build? Perhaps in crucial order?
But, I must add - I'm only doing about 6-8 track days a year, so this is not a race build, more of an enhancement etc - and even then, I'm quite conservative in that I never redline in every gear and am happy to have people pass me etc, I'm just out there to have some fun and some laughs etc!
But, I always want to drive the car home too!!
I thank you all for your advice too!!
