Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I can do a bit more filleting, tweaking for clearances etc later but the primary problem is the red bits:
Leading evidence: 'red bits' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'red bits' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace layer orientation' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I may also need to change the layer orientation to give more strength.
Replace stalks / pull the wheel / clock spring etc…

Whilst I sourced some rivets of the right size to refit as "factory", I can't see any compelling reason why I can't replace these with threaded inserts and countersunk machine screws; There's no great pressure on the plate in use.

I need to figure out how it is supposed to work before I can set about beefing it up at all.

There's a test print emerging from my 3D printer as I type (minus the missing bits, obvs) and if anyone else is interested at having a go at rebuilding a dead one, let me know and I can let you have the .STL file or gcode.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi chaps,
It seemed like a good idea to have a stab at drawing the delicate part that causes all the grief and postings about failed indicator cancelling.
I'm 96% through a cruise control retrofit (on my cable throttled 996) and found that the 4 stalk unit I'd sourced doesn't cancel. Long story short, I disassembled it and found the classic story.
My problem is, I don't have a full working part to measure and complete the drawing. Here's where I am so far:
I can do a bit more filleting, tweaking for clearances etc later but the primary problem is the red bits:
Can anyone help with photos of this area please?
I suspect that the dimensions of the missing bits are not micron level tolerance so I'll have a go at estimating from pictures initially.

Found a post here that gives me something to work with:

Test fit also indicates </groan> that I've put too large a radius on the inboard bit, so back to the drawing board. I'll try and beef up the weak point (there seems no obvious reason why it can't be deeper) and may play around with the print orientation too.

Definitely interested in this One as it is a PITA to replace the stalks / pull the wheel / clock Spring etc…... I have a couple of broken units sitting in the garage. When I’m home next week I’d be happy to take a look.
Cool! Thanks Scrh1.
I'm still tweaking the original drawing but should get a new test print out this week.
I'm also wondering about the attachment of the metal front plate to the main stalk housing. Whilst I sourced some rivets of the right size to refit as "factory", I can't see any compelling reason why I can't replace these with threaded inserts and countersunk machine screws; There's no great pressure on the plate in use. Should the damn thing break again, at least this would make it easier to get apart.
Hmm.
Partial success. Here's the original (broken part) followed by my various prints to date.
1st was OK but was missing bits and had inaccuracies.
2nd did a "ball of wool" failure.
3rd had bed adherence problems and did a blob.
4th came out 95% OK but failed where the factory ones do when I tried to fit the "W" spring. (Broken tab to left of print)
I need to figure out how it is supposed to work before I can set about beefing it up at all. I may also need to change the layer orientation to give more strength.
It's progress, but not there yet.
Any insight/informed speculation into how the tabs actually cancel the indication would be much appreciated.

PS/ The bulk of the printed part seems to be dimensionally within tolerance. The stalk fits, interlock parts fit, roll pin fits etc.
This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
