Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Im sure the Indy I go to has one, but when he installed new Tstat, he said all fans were in working order.
Leading evidence: 'Install tstat, he said all fans were in working order' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install tstat, he said all fans were in working order' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Is that the same temp it ran at before changing the thermostat?

Similarly, I asked my tuner to program my ECU to make my car run 10 degrees cooler.

I guess I just expected it to run cooler with low temp Tstat.

I live in Florida and after a drive sometimes all of my fans are running when I pull in the garage.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey all. I had an LN engineering low temp thermostat installed a couple months ago, but Im noticing on hot days, the temperature is higher than what the low temp thermostat should keep it at. Any ideas?
ok, thanks. Thats what it would get up to before I had the low temp thermostat installed. I guess I just expected it to run cooler with low temp Tstat.
the low temp thermostat will not keep the overall engine temperature lower. It just starts the circulations sooner, keeping some parts of the engine block cooler.
the temperature sensor is located after the thermostat so you will not be able to see it's effectiveness by looking at the gauge.
The design of the low temp thermostat is to activate certain cooling functionality at a lower temp, but it cannot help the engine run cooler.
Similarly, I asked my tuner to program my ECU to make my car run 10 degrees cooler. He was like, no problem. I mean, if an air filter can add 10-15 hp, anything is possible amiright? 😆
Is that the same temp it ran at before changing the thermostat? Do you know if your low speed fans are working? Mine used to get this hot and all the fans would turn on high speed. Then I found my low speed fans weren't working because the ballast resistors were bad. It's quite common. After replacing them, the max temp I see is with the needle over the right side of the '8'. It's not a big deal if they aren't working.
On my 99, the low speed fans dont even come on until the temp gauge hits that last white line, which is close to 96.75C. Which is totally fine and not too hot at all. Its the front radiators and airflow that control the upper end temps. I bet if you drive on the highway at 80mph, those temps will drop.
I wouldnt worry one bit about the temps you are seeing, they are normal.
Wait...ummm...who is "Metty" and "Ametcalf" (the OP). Is there a person on this forum with two different user names? OP is Ametcalf and then Metty is responding like he is the OP. Huh!
I canceled the interview once and had to tell the guy who made the referral to break the news to both parties. Nothing against anyone who has health issues, but I just couldnt envisioning making this work for all parties involved, lol.
Do you know anyone with Durametric? Or a shop that has Durametric. The software can activate the low speed and high speed fans. When the high speed fans kick in it sounds like a hovercraft. You can also activate the engine bay fan. I live in Florida and after a drive sometimes all of my fans are running when I pull in the garage. Turning on the AC should also make the low speed fans come on.
Im sure the Indy I go to has one, but when he installed new Tstat, he said all fans were in working order. I dont believe Ive ever heard the high speed fan based off the description youre giving.
If the AC pressure is above 16 bar, or ECTS (engine coolant temperature sensor) shows 102C, the high speed fans will kick on. This happens on my car with AC on a cold setting and its hot outside.
