Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am trying to remove the exhaust support bracket. Not the part that the exhaust attaches to but the support bracket that is mounted to the engine. Part # 17 in the attached. I have the exhaust off and one bolt on the top that mounts to the engine. It looks like there is only one bolt there in the illustration but the support does not move easily. Any tip or suggestion? Bill

POST 2Original post

There is two bolts on the top ( and two bolts on the bottom)..

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I got the two on the bottom and one on the top. Any tips to get the one on the top closest to the rear bumper? The engine is in the car. Thanks

POST 4Original post

Take the nuts off the motor mount studs and let the engine down onto the crossmember ..( take the 02 sensor wires out of the holders first so you don't stretch the wires....oh and take the airbox off.)

POST 5Original post

By the way, the header has to come out as well before that bracket can come out. I just did this morning.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes. I had the header out and got the driver side done. Now working on the passenger side.

POST 7Original post

I did this job on the passenger side without removing the header. The key was to lower the engine a bit to reach the top bolts.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Lowered the engine and trying to use a swivel head and long extension. Still tough from the bottom. Trying again tomorrow

POST 9Original post

I was working on the car for quite a few hours at this point... I guess I was lonely, but I still can't figure out why I recorded this:

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks. That should help me. I think that unplugging the lines from the spark plugs will help and I am replacing them anyway.
