Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

I don't have a problem with that, especially after having to replace a couple of radiators in our BMWs sooner than that.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Finally got a print out of full service history from the Porsche dealer, one interesting item is the replacement in mid 2005 of the "coolant bottle", parts was almost $400, labor looks about 2.5 hrs. Would the time frame imply the replacement coolant reservoir tank is likely to be the newer design that is less prone to bursting/cracking? Thanks in advance.

POST 2Original post

IMO - YES now hurry up and put some miles on it before winter hits!

POST 3Original post

No I don't think they ever improved that part. It's still plastic and it dries out and cracks from the heat.

POST 4Original post

it will last until it leaks...newer = better....stop worrying I still say YES

POST 6Original post

Doug is always right.....I thought he was wrong once, but he wasnt

POST 7Original post

The change is minor... Over time the newer style tanks will age and eventually (under pressure) spring a leak... Many (and this is my opinion) times the pressure relief sticks closed and creates a higher then normal pressure inside the tank and then the older material just cracks (under pressure).

Actually, LN says that they're only good for 50K miles.

POST 13Original post

I, too, have replaced my coolant tank (and cap)...after 11 years and 60K miles of service life. I don't have a problem with that, especially after having to replace a couple of radiators in our BMWs sooner than that. relinuca
