Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Caught up on my backlog of detailing work and decided to play golf this afternoon. I leave my top-down almost always, figured I would put it up at the golf course just in case we got a passing shower. Feel something hit me on the back of the head and shoulder, look over and find a mouse nest. Used two shoes as oven mitts to get it out and was left with all this nice mouse poop. No picture of the nest, somehow it was gone when I finished golfing. Thankfully the headliner doesn't appear to be damaged but I am sure something I cant see is.

Huge bummer, in my garage, they love love love the cabin air filter. They must talk to the other rabid mice out in the yard and let them know it is 😋 and 🛌!

POST 3Original post

Years ago I had a mouse build a nest in the folded soft top of an old MB when I left it down over night. Chewed a 1" hole in the top.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I’ll have to look at it more closely tomorrow. We’ve been here 26 years and I’ve never seen this happen inside the garage. Had a nest in our grille and then my Audi but that sits outside a few feet from the woods and doesn’t move for weeks sometimes. The 911 sits inside and over last winter it didn’t even sit that long since it was so mild here.

POST 5Original post

That's good to hear that the top doesn't appear to have gotten damaged. I've been dealing with a rat at home. Killed one. But then another one moved into the attic. I have yet to find the hole or crack that they use to get into the attic.

I know we have had mice in the attic and there is an unfinished space above the garage so I am assuming they could have gotten in that way. We have a pest guy coming out next week. Hate to harm them but unfortunately when they start causing damage its time to go.

POST 7Original post

Closing a garage door doesn't stop a mouse. An adult mouse can fit into a hole slightly smaller than a dime, and an adolescent mouse only needs a space smaller than the diameter of a Bic pen. A cat can help,

POST 8Original post

Cats definitely help. We've always had 2 or 3 cats in residence. Both houses we've bought had mice when we moved in. A short time later they are gone. Then, if they are indoor/outdoor cats, they start clearing the yard. There were 2 years we didn't have any cats and the rats continually tried to move in. I always had traps out. A year ago we got 2 more rescue kittens and we are rodent free and trap free again. 2 downsides to cats: they can also be destructive to furniture and carpeting (keep some good scratching posts around), and they will bring you presents (the dead bodies of the creatures they are finding in the house and yard). Luckily, knock wood, I haven't had to deal with rodents living in one of our cars...

The neighborhood has outdoor cats although I think one just met his demise unfortunately, foxes, we watched a bird grab a squirrel 5 feet from our window the other day. 25 years I've had cars at this house and its never happened, I think we also had traps and what not around before as well. I am wondering when and how long that was in there because the car was still driven during the winter with it being so mild.

POST 11Original post

A few years back, my wife's car started showing symptoms of demonic possession one evening. All sorts of electrical strangeness. When I popped the hood open I noticed a bunch of cracked garden snail shells and other strange things all over the top and around the intake manifold. I shun a flashlight and discovered a rodent nest built using firewall insulation material, as well as wiring harness wrapping material... When I pointed the flashlight at one of the wiring harnesses I discovered that, in their quest to harvest material to build Mickey's Suburban Paradise, they chewed through a few of the wire vinyl jackets and these were intermittently shorting against each other. We've had a neighborhood feral cat for the last 2 years or so and since then we haven't seen much mice activity around our cars on the driveway.

I was detailing a customers car once, more so just dusting it off cause it had been sitting and there was a mouse skeleton in the folds of the top.
