Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

66 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

We are designing a smaller version of the ducktail that is better proportioned to the narrow body 996. This wing will bolt on to the original factory deck lid. We will have it available in a few weeks. Check us out at www.gt3tek.com

POST 3Original post

More pics from a distance and whats the price?

POST 5Original post

YES! this is prefect...I've been considering a duck tail spoiler over the GT3 or GT2 spoilers

POST 6Original post

Definitely interested! Can't wait for more pics from further away. Eagerly awaiting details.

POST 8Original post

I would like to see the width extended to the cut line.

POST 9Original post

Quotes source post: 11465303

Same here, and maybe a little taller. This is the one body mod I would like to make to my 40th. Paul

POST 10Original post

I completely agree that the duck tail needs to extend wider, to the cut lines of the trunk, do that and you have yourself a buyer!

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

We will have more pictures at the end of the week we are still working on the details. We will have an introduction price just under seven hundred and regular price should be just under nine hundred. We did make several changes and a couple were the length we wanted the wing to fit in the hollow slot were the pop up spoiler fits and we did not want it to high with the vertical wall we also made it shorter than the original because we did not want to add a third brake light.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

We also have a small version that fits on the existing pop up spoiler and is much more affordable at 267.00 here is a link: http://gt3tek.com/products/gt3wing.htm Designing and manufacturing is very expensive however we still try to keep prices way below our competition.

POST 14Original post

very nice but need to see more pictures from the rear and height of ducktail wing.

POST 15Original post

I agree with others that wider is better...and do you think you will have one that fits the C4S? Also, since it is going to fit on top of the factory decklid, do you have a picture of it with the factory deck lid extended? -Eric

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The wing is going to fit in the cavity where the pop up spoiler used to be. In order to fit our duck tail you will need to remove the pop up spoiler first then fit the new wing in the hollow area of the deck lid.

POST 20Original post

Please post a picture directly from the back of the car. Thanks!

POST 21Original post

Quotes source post: 11468699

Aaaah, I figured I was missing something! lol Will you have one for the C4S? -Eric

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The deck lid of the cab and coupe are the same. We will be posting some rear shot pictures later today.

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Here are some rear shots, keep in mind we are still block sanding, filling gaps and getting things right.

POST 24Original post

I have a few questions, is it going to be tall enough to block the 3rd brake light? Are the vents on top gonna be functional and are they gonna have screens? I have a 99, am I gonna need a harness for the indicator light? Is it gonna be possible to get a better price if we get a group buy going? Do you have more pictures of the same angles you just posted except farther away to see what look it gives the overall to the car?

POST 25Original post

this has to be one of the stupidest things i've seen.

POST 26Original post

Quotes source post: 11485849

Yeah...it's fugly I do like the other bolt on Cabriolet Wing they make however.

POST 27Original post

I don't understand this. Every photo posted makes it look different. The second photo makes the spoiler look the best with the most potential. When I saw that one I thought it just needs to be a little bit wider and we have a winner. Those last two photos make the spoiler look way too small, out of place, almost like it was made for a different car. I'm actually at a loss for words. Sorry, but I hate it.

POST 28Original post

I agree. It should overlap the lid to make it wider. That way your goal of keeping in the oem spoiler location would work while giving it a wider profile to please the crowd.

POST 29Original post

Quotes source post: 11487291

+1 take a look at the turbo spoiler for what trendy is talking about, it hangs out over the top of the rear lights, partially obscuring them. Otherwise, looks like a very fine mod. 2002 Turbo - Basalt Black Metallic / 2003 Carrera 4S - Speed Yellow / 1955 356 Continental 1500 - Rust Red

POST 30Original post

Here's another vote for more pics, preferably of the entire car. One straight on from the back, another from the side. I like the ducktail idea, and it really like the way the 2011 sport design tail looks. I'm hoping this could put that look on a 996.

POST 31Original post

I like it. Thanks for sharing the early photos.

POST 32Original post

Not a fan. Looks small but then again I'm a big fan of the "oversized" Spoilers Porsches are known for, so I'm biased to say the least. Sent from my iPhone using IB AutoGroup

POST 34 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

We now have the 996 duck tail available, we include the factory 997 GT3 plastic grills and come mounted. The introductory promo price will be less than $600.00 for the first ten wings and includes free shipping in the lower 48 states. Regular price will be a little over 800. The "catch" per say is that we would really like the photos of your new wing on your car when finished for promos, thus the discount for your valuable time. We also appreciate your feedback on it. Please let us know if your an interested party in this mutually beneficial promo.

POST 35Original post

I'm interested, do you have any pics of the finished product?

POST 36Original post

To each his own, right? I think it's hideous. But, I also think that if somebody wants to put it on their car then they should! We all have our own opinions. I would be worried about fit and finish though. Aftermarket parts sometimes require significant work from a local body shop to complete the proper look.

POST 38Original post

Interested but ca we get some pictures? The previous posted pictures were prototypes/works in progress. Thanka

POST 40 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok guys. Here they are. The 996 duck tail does come with GT3 air induction openings and we provide OEM GT3 grills on them already pre-mounted. Hope you really like it.

POST 43Original post

How much more down force would this have than the stock pop up spoiler ?

POST 44 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Very good question, we have not tested the wing.

POST 46Original post

Any pix of the wing mounted? The original pix look like the wing is on a 997. How does this mount? Is it permanent mount? Do I need to drill holes into my rear deck (after removing the current pop up wing?). Wondering how hard it is to swap the original wing and this ducktail back and forth (for when I go to the track since we don't know the aerodynamics of this ducktail)

POST 47Original post

Yes! Pics mounted and a full body shot if you have any!!

POST 48 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The wing weighs just under 6 pounds with the grills mounted.

POST 49Original post

My last question would be any problems with cooling? The vents look kind of small? Mine is mid 99 will I need a harness, since I have the check light every time I start the car.

POST 50 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The air vent openings are from a GT3 and are larger than the stock 996 so you will not have any problems.

POST 51 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Here are a few pictures showing our new 996 duck tail and Speedster clam shell.

POST 52Original post

A trend I seem to notice are unfinished pics with your products. Do you have any finished pics? I would think that would help you better market and sell the products, especially to the Porsche crowd as they can be a very finicky bunch. I also think some may lack the vision to imagine the finished product without actually seeing it as well.

POST 53Original post

Exactly what I was thinking... My delivery may have been less tactful.

POST 55 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you, will be posting more pictures of a few of our customers cars as soon as they are finished installing and painting them on their 996.

POST 56Original post

Can you give a little more detail on the installation? Do I pull the fan from my standard spoiler and install it on the ducktail? Is there a fan built in? If it has a fan built in do I just disconnect my electric stuff and plug it in? You say it bolts on to the deck. Does it use the exiting holes?
