Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

27 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Looking for a 99 because of Cable Throttle but will also consider other 996's if the Price is right. Project for next years H20i International after seeing this https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...993-build.html Already have a 3.0L Built 12V VR6 with GT40 Turbo, just waiting for a Car to go into and this is going to be it want complete with or without motor but need the trans!!!

POST 2Original post

With so many 996s exploding (internet infused panic) you should easily find a roller Zookie. GL. By the way, how is your rebuild?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 11686895

well that's why I am posting for a 996. my Engine Rebuild is excellent! car feels more Lively and Tight, put about 8k on it so far

POST 4Original post

I've got an 01 coupe that needs an engine... I'd keep the core engine and sell the rest. I don't have time to repair the engine to sell the car.

how?

POST 10Original post

I started buying from the auctions and have seen a huge increase in the amount of totaled ones. As they get older, the insurance companies are refusing to allow them to be repaired. Remember not all are wrecked. Some are stripped TR's, and flooded. Any of these would be a great track car or engine swap candidate. Even the ones with MBI policies are being totaled. Don't post this and walk away. Say what???????

IIRC, this was when you went on a little vacation over at Renntech. You probably missed Pete's announcement at that time. Custom built JR motor should give you a boner and make you envy...

POST 12Original post

I remember JR built his engine. I didn't remember it being a 997S 3.8. Now Im really confused about the why he's selling it.

POST 13Original post

Yup a 4.0 is on my future. Can't wait. Adding a GT3 82mm throttle and competition IPD plenum.....looking for some x51 headers and 200 cell cats for a 3.8 block.

POST 14Original post

Ok, now I think you're confusing me and others. IIRC Pete got a replacement motor from Jake for his 996. He's selling or sold his 996 and bought a 997s roller from Jake and is waiting for one of Jake's specialty motors to go into the new chassis which isn't probably going to be til next year sometime. Pete, please feel free to correct me while I try to get KK caught up. That's what you get KK for leaving us shortly(but secretly, I knew you'd be back).

Here is the scoop.....I did get a refreshed motor from Flat6. All worn components were replaced with new. I wanted more cowbell so I'm selling the 996 Aero and if all goes well she is gone tomorrow mid day. I bought a 2005 997S Chrono Sport with a bad motor from Jake and Flat6 is building a "Track Performer II" 4.0 in it. Should be humpimg closing to 400 HP with a crazy amount of torque. The bad thing is I won't have it until Feb 2015. The good thing is I'll add the OEM Aerokit to it.

POST 16Original post

Yeah.. Thats soon! We are currently filling the schedule for end of October 2015 completions! :-)

POST 17Original post

Zookie, start a thread with full detials when this project finally takes off. The winter is almost here, it will be nice to follow a thread like yours.

POST 19Original post

Zook sorry the post got off track......would love to hear about the project.

POST 20Original post

Yes Zookie, do it! Don't forget to make a build thread. I always told myself I'd do a turbo VR if either of my 996s blew the engine.

POST 21Original post

They are out there. I just picked up a 2000 with no motor for under $5K.

POST 22Original post

Or buy a running car and sell the working motor. That's what I did.
