Suggestion
My advice is to consult with the dealer service department, or an indy shop, and its techs where you will have the car serviced and repaired (should something go amiss) try to learn which Porsche after market warranty company they have the best experience with.

Suggestion
The program involved the dealership making an inspection of the car and if I need service under the contract the Porsche dealership gets the repair approved and is paid directly from the contract company.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I recently purchased a 2010 Carrera 4S Coupe with two months of factory warranty left and 15,000 miles from the original owner. I have been looking for an aftermarket warranty and so far have found many horror stories. I would like to hear from Porsche owners who have/are experiencing good results from their after market warranty and who those companies may be. Costco no longer offers warranties on Porsche. The local Porsche/Audi dealer offers Fidelity Warranty Services, however, in checking the Web for reviews, they have received some very bad press. I would appreciate hearing some success stories as I want to get coverage soon. A CPO warranty is out of the question as I bought it from the original private owner. Thanks.

If your ownership is contingent on getting the warranty, it is best to just sell the car. Companies don't offer warranties for the Porsches because everything constantly breaks on them; it is also very possible for your 997 to bankrupt you.
I would consider dumping the car on the craiglist or auction site ASAP.
You've got to be kidding! I already own the car and certainly can afford it. Getting an extended warranty isn't a neccessity, but simply some additional coverage. I think you're mistaken in what I was asking.
How did you stumble into the 996 forum when the 2010 model is considered 997?
Regardless of my curiosity, your best bet is to ask Jake from Flat 6 as he only recommended 1 company(I forget who it was). When it comes to warranty, you wanna find a company that would be willing to use top parts and repair facilities if you want it fixed right.
Do a search on here on warranties and I'm sure you'll stumble across his post.
LaSalle Warranty Company..
I will work with NO ONE ELSE!
In fact, LaSalle has us do all their Porsche repair work, and they also give discounts for vehicles that we have updated.
I used to hate all aftermarket warranty companies, then we did one job for LaSalle and was impressed with the owner of the company.
I purchased a 3 year 36 mile service contract through my Porsche Dealer. It is a 3rd party company named Easy Care. There were different levels of coverage with prices to match. I felt that in an 11 year old car, things like window regulators and power seat motors and ac, brakes, and the like should be my nickle since I'm the one deciding to buy an eleven year old car and I should not be surprised if things like that eventually wear out. The program involved the dealership making an inspection of the car and if I need service under the contract the Porsche dealership gets the repair approved and is paid directly from the contract company. Or I can have the work done by a private shot and submit the bill to the insurance company for reimbursment. I chose the second level of the contract, one step above the basic. This includes the engine, transmission, fuel system and some other stuff...the big one for me is the power train. My cost was $2500 for the three years/36k miles. Repairs can eat that up rather quickly so I don't feel it was a bad price. Since this was offered by a Porsche dealer, because it is transferable if I sell the car, and because I can cancel and get prorated refund for the unused time, I felt comfortable with my decision. So that's my two cents.
Almost all of these aftermaket warraties are not worth the paper they are written on. If you need to pay the repair and then submit a claim.....well good luck getting your money back. I would rather take the $2500 and put it in a bank.
Aftermarket warranties are a mixed bag. Definitely a love it or hate it relationship. I have had aftermarket warranties before and generally don't think much of them . The real problem is that if you look at the exclusions in the fine print they ( at least the ones I have had and/or seen) excluded a lot of the stuff that is known to break such as electrical , window regulators, ECU boxes etc.
Before you decide on a company, do a Google search on them (using COMPLAINT as a key word). You'd be amazed at how many of the providers have horror stories attached to them.
Because of my search, I decided not to go down that path. In the 2 years since I bought my 2002 996, I've spent less than $2,000 on non-typical maintenance items:
Replaced clutch helper spring & clutch pedal switch
Replaced headlight switch; replace vacuum reservoir, change-over valve and air injection shut-off valve
Replace bank 1 cam position sensor
Replaced left turn signal light wiring harness & bulbs
and I'm not sure if all of these would have been paid for under an aftermarket warranty.
Since most of the quotes I had ran in the $3,000 to $4,500 range for a 3-year warranty, I suspect Im slightly ahead of the (amortized) game.
It depends largely on the warranty company & seller. My car was purchased through CarMax and I bought a 5 yr/65K mile warranty for $3K. It's what's referred to as an "exclusion policy" - anything *not* covered is specified explicitly. If the failed component in not within the excluded group, you're good. In the first four months, they've replaced all 6 of my coils and the water pump. Both jobs done at the dealer would have been around ~$2k. Depending on how long I keep the car, it's quite likely the warranty will pay for itself. Additionally, the plugs & thermostat were replaced on my dime, but the labor was free because they were in there already.
The aforementioned work was done above and beyond what was fixed as a result of a PPI:
* new AOS
* Full clutch kit (TOB, clutch, pressure plate, pilot bearing, fork)
* replace Left AC condenser
* driver's window regulator
* serpentine belt & pulleys
* program extra key
I have had Easy Care a number of times and I can't complain. A few different levels depending on the car and. I think i sold a car a year into the 3 year deal and they promptly sent 2/3rds of my money back, but it came through the dealer.

Almost all (make that all) are pretty concerned about false claims, abuse, misuse, etc. I have talked to the Porsche techs at my local dealer and often when there is a claim the adjuster shows up and asks about a zillion questions trying to find a reason to deny the claim.
With this in mind you have to also understand just what you can do to ensure the tech has the solid foundation to stand on to go to bat for your claim. The adjuster you see doesn't talk to you, he talks to the tech.
