if you are fast enough to check the ABS it is working without problems but if the message appears its switched off.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hi, i am searching a procedure to bleed the PSM/ABS circuit, the only post i found was that the bleeding on a C4 is different than a C2. i enclouse the procedure but i cannot complete the bleeding process on my car. the manuel say that on C4 you have to open right front and than start the booster pump - i did this but i dont hear any loud from the pump (the durametric send the message - command send sucessfull). have i also to open some valves? my pedal is hard, so it could not be any air in the primary system, only if you drive after about 3-5min the message appears that ABS/PASM is not working. if you are fast enough to check the ABS it is working without problems but if the message appears its switched off. the ABS in durametric is the 5.7. bye wolfgang

POST 2Original post

There is a second step. You need to perform the second step.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

this is the only page i have - can you tell me what i have to do in the secend stage, or send me page two of the manuel? wolfgang

I have 3 "tiff" files that detail the 2nd step. Send me a private email and in it supply an email address that will accept these 3 files -- they are not very big (70Kb to 117Kb) -- and I will send them to you.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i had a fault pressure sensor i erased it with durametric and then performed the bleeding (thank you Macster). I had no bubbles or so but i drove 1 hour and the ABS/PASM failure message dosnot appear hope it works the brakes a very good, may master cylinder failed, i have the pressure point from the beginnig - i you have a weak brake feeling check also the master cylinder. bye wolfgang

POST 6Original post

is this a right hand drive car? If not I would bleed the left front last, closest to the master cylinder.

no its a left hand drive car, in the description for bleeding the secondary circuit you only have to open the right front (C4). i have done the bleeding 5 times, but the brake point came after changinging the master cylinder - if you have a weak pressure feeling i think 90% is the defective master cylinder.

Once again are you sure that the directions are for a left side brake booster. The bleeding directions on the same page aren't. From Pelican http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...ing_Brakes.htm "...Now start bleeding the system. Start with the right rear caliper, the one thats located furthest away from the master cylinder. Bleed the right rear caliper by attaching a hose to the bleed nipple, placing it in a jar, and then opening the valve by turning the bleeder nipple counter-clockwise with an 11mm wrench. Let the fluid flow out until there are no more bubbles. If you dont have a pressure bleeder system, you need to find someone to press on the pedal repeatedly to force fluid through the system. Another solution is to get a check valve and place it on the nipple while you stomp on the pedal (see Figure 3). This will work for getting fluid into the system but you will still need a second person for the final step to make sure you have bled the system completely. The Carrera calipers have two bleed nipplesbleed the outer ones first. When no more air bubbles come out, then move to the next caliper. Bleed them in this order: right rear caliper, left rear caliper, right front caliper, left front caliper. Bleeding in this order will minimize the amount of air that gets into the system."
