Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

21 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

In case you all think there's no love for 996's: Tonight on my way home from an Auto-X, as I'm stopped at a traffic light, a homeless guy staggers up to my car, whistles to get my attention, and then shouts over: "Hey, what's a Player like me gotta do to get a car like that?" He then gives me a thumbs up and a two-handed finger-pistol gesture, grins widely, and staggers off. So, no one can tell me there's no love for 996's!!

POST 2Original post

I got compliments all the time, one morning a guy with a Nissan Z convertible, told me : "I'm hoping after I wash my car is going to look like yours"

POST 3Original post

I think Porsches 911/996 in general get alot of attention, just the other day I was on my way to work and another 996 pulled up next to me on the light and gave me the thumbs up.!!!!!!

POST 4Original post

Parked the Targa at the back of a parking lot and came back out to see a beautiful E type Jag parked next to it. As I got close to the car I noticed a guy admiring the Targa. It was the owner of the Jag. He looked at me and said "nice car" then asked how much I would take to sell it to him and he would write a check on the spot. I though about it for a second and told him my wife would kill me as it is her car. He laughed for a sec and we had a nice conversation about cars.

POST 5Original post

I also get compliments all time. Whenever I wash my car, at least 3 people gives me thumbs up. When I wash my E550, no love.

POST 6Original post

I was driving home the other day with the top down and I noticed a Camry coming up fast. The driver was an older woman wearing a cannula and she yelled out the window “porches rule –you’re driving my dream car”. She gave the thumbs up and sped away.

POST 7Original post

when I wash my car my neighbors and people walking by always have something nice to say.

POST 10Original post

We only live like ballers and wow the avg uninformed crowd. The others, well that's a different story. That's like me giving a ride to a guy that's driven 4 cylinder Hyundai's all his life and saying how fast/awesome/great handling my car is. I place more weight when it comes from the right crowd. All others just tend to be "static" to my ears.

You tryin' ta say that the homeless guy's opinion is less than a stellar endorsement for these fine machines? Dang, that was the second homeless guy in a week to give my car props. I gotta start hanging out in the classier parts of town. Maybe down Schnelly's way or something.

POST 12Original post

She came up on me fast because I was turning left and she was going straight. She is a Porsche lover from way back and very informed since she likes my car.

Thanks Tom I'm not sure which I like better the Targa or my 986 S Sure do like the extra umph from the 3.6 My neighbors just look at me and scratch their head How's your new 911 doing?

POST 15Original post

In a matter of 4 months of ownership I've gotten compliments way more than other eye-catching cars I've owned. At the end, it's how I feel driving the car that's the biggest compliment.

POST 16Original post

Quotes source post: 11793457

That's not what I'm saying. I could be driving a beetle with a body kit and that Homeless guy could say "Nice Porsche!".

POST 17Original post

I'm sad to say it's mainly dudes that are impressed by the car. My barber, my dentist have all followed me to the parking lot to check out my car. Dudes at gas stations will start talking to me. Some dude in a FRs and a mini van stopped next to me in traffic just to ask me some dumb questions (is it faster than a caddy ctsv). I try to keep the car "low key". No one at work has dared touched my spot ever since I started parking the pcar there. Most acquaintances I randomly meet and see again all call me "the porsch guy" (yes Porsch not Porsche). Only 2 chicks have been "wow'd" by the car. Compared to like 25+ dudes... I must be doing it wrong.

POST 18Original post

I get compliments all the time. Admittedly most of them think my car is much newer than it is, probably worth closer to what it cost new that it is, and is faster than it is. However, anyway you look at it, a 996 is a work of art. Even the "informed people" admit that it is a nice car. It's not the sexiest, not the most expensive, and certainly not the fastest, but it's still an nice ride.

I've had the same experience. Most girls don't even give it a double take. My girlfriend's reaction the her first ride when I bought mine was "It's too loud" She came around tho, always asks if we can take the Porsche wherever we go.

POST 20Original post

The 996 is a beautiful Italian v8 Powered supercar

POST 21Original post

Being young (26) and driving around in a red 996 GT3, I feel like I'm getting a lot of the wrong attention from cops. No respect. Just the other week I get a ticket for no front plate yet I see tons of Porsches in Manhattan without one as well. Just my .02. Arrest me red. Great color!
