Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

ok, so replacing the engine mounts earlier today, half the oil filler tube came off does one half fit inside the other or have i clumsily managed to break one long filler neck and now need to replace that? thx martin

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thx. i was afraid that was the case

POST 4Original post

Fyi, U have to slide the alt out of the way to get to the 2nd bolt. Some people have used large electrical heat shrink as a temp repair.

POST 5Original post

Order a new filler cap as well. Gaskets on them don't last forever, but keep the old cap and use it as a manometer fitting so you can test when it is time to replace the AOS. Of course you will need a manometer, but they don't have to be expensive.

POST 6Original post

You can do a temporary fix using a rubber collar from a hardware or plumbing store and some hose clamps. At least you'll be able to drive the car while waiting to do the real fix. My temporary fix was on for over a year until I replaced the part.

POST 7Original post

I did the exact same thing today while replacing belt and air filter!!! Had to take out air box and it just snapped. I used about half and inch of hose that could fit inside both pieces and then about electrical tape. Like some of these other guys ideas too. Just ordered one from Pelican.... good luck dude!
