The swap is super easy, and you don't need to disconnect the battery as long as you don't turn the key.

I'm thinking of replacing my stock 03 996 seats with extra seats from a 06 Cayman S that I recently purchased.

I'm trying to understand the details of the installation, what can go wrong etc.
Here's what I'm thinking:
Disconnect battery
Take the passenger seat out first
Measure track length, etc
How does it look? These are black, my 996 seats are Lt. grey.
Swap the seatbelt receptacle
Figure out how to power the reclining function (just a manual seat w/reclining back)
Connect it all up, go for a ride, hopefully everything works!
If the wife likes it, I'll do the same with the drivers seat
So, sound like a plan?
A fellow near here who buys Porsche wrecks and sells the parts tells me 996/6 and 986/7 seats are interchangeable. Wiring will be your biggest challenge I think.
Wiring is very simple. One power one ground. Make sure to disconnect the battery first so you don't trip the SRS warning.
I installed them in my car. Way better than the stock 996 seats
I'm interested to see how this goes. The seats should just bolt up. I'd LOVE to find some savannah beige sport seats with heat to drop in my 986.
