Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anyone have a good source to purchase 996 c2 (‘02-05) axles? Looks to be NLA everywhere; I can only find c4 and turbo available. Looking for new parts, not used

POST 2Original post

Jack....see the linky. https://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/20..._assembly.html

POST 3Original post

Did you try Sunset Porsche Parts, Suncoast and AutoAtlanta? They have been very reliable part sources for me.

Much appreciated guys; a few great sites that I wasnt aware of. Unfortunately c2 axles remain unavailable....those sites only have C4/turbo stock.

So you are looking for the fronts? What is wrong with a rebuilt axle?

POST 7Original post

There are no axle shafts in the front of a c2?

POST 8Original post

My parts catalog shows the same part# for rear axle shafts for all normally aspirated manual trans 996: C2, C4, C4S: 996.332.024.06 which is superceded to 996.332.024.99. Gaudin Porsche Parts has them in stock for $802 each. Turbo, GT2, and GT3 are different. Tiptronic is different.

The axles on the car have a part # that ends in .023 (instead of .24). That part # corresponds to the apparently unobtanium C2 axles. If the C4 axles work on a C2 that may explain why they only manufacture the one part # now. Ill have my shop check that out. Thanks!

That's interesting, I can't find that number (996.332.023.06) anywhere. The 996.332.024.99 supersedes a whole list of part numbers. Makes sense that the C2/C4/C4S all use the same rear driveshaft. They use the same gearbox and rear suspension.

POST 12Original post

Can both sides of the 996 axle shaft be rebuilt? The tranny side CV joint can be purchased. Is there anything that can be replaced on the wheel side? If not, when purchasing rebuilt axle shafts what is done with the wheel side joint? Vertex Auto in Miami sells rebuilt axles and will rebuild mine. That's why I'm wondering if anything can be done on the wheel side, other than re-greasing. Thank you
