Suggestion · Original poster

its a 15 minute job to replace the valve since the hose connected on the left side needs to be sliced down the middle to remove from the valve (new valve doesnt come with a hose).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Replaced the Carbon Tank Control Valve today on my 99 C2 and solved low idle/stall issue. History - Developed a situation this summer where the engine would either stall or nearly stall at idle. Interestingly, the idle would be fine with the a/c on. 800rpm no problem. Shut off the a/c and the idle would drop a lot and sometimes stall. Since it was summer the A/C was always on. I read a while back this little valve can cause idle issues. I also read if its starting to fail you can hear it click repetitively. Mine was clicking so I ordered the valve (no idle issues at the time). Finally got around to installing today. its a 15 minute job to replace the valve since the hose connected on the left side needs to be sliced down the middle to remove from the valve (new valve doesnt come with a hose). I just reused the hose and put a clamp on it. Works great. After the valve was replaced the car idles just perfect at 750 with a/c off.
