Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that contain suggestions
1
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
Seeing a dozen or so fairly low resolutuion and poorly composed pics and an inspection report describing all the minor issues does not feed the emotions like viewing it from 10' away and a test drive.
Leading evidence: 'Test drive' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Test drive' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm looking to buy an X50 or Turbo S 996 car. Manual transmissions only. I'm in Los Angeles at the moment but also up in Portland, OR often as well.
Preferred exterior colors: Slate Gray, Atlas Gray, Dark Olive Metallic
Acceptable Colors for the right price: Seal Gray, Midnight Blue, Lapis Blue, White
Interior Color: Only black shall do
My only other restriction is no Turbo Aerokit cars. I prefer cars with no front bumper plugs or plate holes (cleaner look), but realize that most aren't going to be unmolested. GT2 body parts are acceptable as long as radiator ducting was properly modified to go with said front bumper.
I know this is going to be a tough search, but I'm willing to be patient for the right car rather than the "right now" car. Please let me know if you folks are aware of any cars like this that are available or could be made available for the right price.
The Turbo S was in 2005, yes. A swansong trim for the 996 with the PCCB and X50 engine (not sure what else came standard over a regular Turbo). Some people think the cars are faster (stock for stock) than X50 cars, but I don't know much about that.
I think this is going to be a tough search for a Turbo S - there was literally something like less than 100 sold in the U.S. in 2005. I know because I almost bought one last summer, out of Fresno - but the vendor was a little too flaky.
There's probably more with the X50 kit, though.
I've had PPIs done on 2 different '05 Turbo S Cabs in the last 6 weeks or so. Overall they are an awsome car from what I hear and pics I've seen. Never seen one in person, that's probably why I haven't purchased one yet. I could walk around a car and within 5 minutes or so, know if it was something I woud buy. Seeing a dozen or so fairly low resolutuion and poorly composed pics and an inspection report describing all the minor issues does not feed the emotions like viewing it from 10' away and a test drive.
I'm now kicking myself for not buying the '05 Turbo S Cab that needed a good detail, front brake pads, one coolant hose replacement recommended, and a front bumper cover scrape reair and repaint. PPI revealed it was a good runner, everything worked, not in collector condition but a dialy driver. Owner offered it to me for $38,500 and gave me 2 hours to make my decision. I'm now thinking I could have fixed the issues, sold the car in spring for a cool $10k profit, or just had a fantastic driver.
Wow, that's 2001 with stories pricing. And you passed because??? Sure the CAB and Tips bring less than coupes and manual but my god, the motor alone is worth almost that much!
I passed because I wanted to sleep on it. Seal Grey wasn't my first color choice or even my second. It had a lot of miles, 99k and although we know this is probably not an issue, it would most likely be a difficult car to sell in 3-6 years. It may have been hard for me to sell with all the issues fixed for $45k with just over 100k miles in the spring.
