Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

U wil need to change the harness plug on the lights and maybe a few of the under lying plastics but the base unibody is the same.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok a funny thought occurred to me and I cannot find a solid answer because people generally go the other way around.. Is it possible to take a 996.2 and install the 991.1 Bumper/headlights without having to do much else ? Or not ? Why? I always liked the purity of a 996.1 GT3 look, which was never imported here. And it would make sense to start with a tuned 3.6 car instead of a 3.4. Don't own either at the moment, just wondering if that's actually doable or if it requires fenders or other mods making it cost ineffective ? thx !

POST 2Original post

Assuming you are in the US and you are talking about the C2 coupe.. Not certain why you would want to convert a 996.2 into a 996.1 when there are boatloads more 996.1 coupes in existence. May make more sense to buy a 996.1 and have a field day with the aero that you actually want. Besides, there is plenty of performance in the 3.4 which is more than the majority of folks can handle anyways. Your call. Just trying to save you money and headaches.

POST 3Original post

I agree you could buy one with a blown motor for around $10k and make in to a screamer this makes more sense

POST 4Original post

Yes u can just bolt on the bumper headlights and fenders and get the mk1 look. U wil need to change the harness plug on the lights and maybe a few of the under lying plastics but the base unibody is the same.

POST 5Original post

To piggyback: Roller aero .1 + crate 3.8 rebuild + some GT3-level suspension parts = .1 GT3 clone done right.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
