Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I then replaced the MAF sensor since it was giving a CEL, I also changed the crankshaft position sensor.
Leading evidence: 'Replace crankshaft position sensor' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check x59 1/2 connectors' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello, I am new to the forums and the Porsche world. I recently bought a 1999 996 C2. The car only has 112k miles and overall, in great shape. I recently did all the general maintenance of oil change and spark plugs. It happened 2 months ago was just going about 65 in 4th gear. It turns off and stays in accessory, so all the dash lights show up. I turn the key back while moving and the fires right up no problem at all. I then replaced the MAF sensor since it was giving a CEL, I also changed the crankshaft position sensor. It just happened again this evening similar thing just cruising on the road. I am not sure what’s causing this issue but its concerning if I was in the middle of traffic or on a turn. I've driven the car normal and hard with no issues at all it runs amazing. I've read stuff saying possibly the fuel pump, cam position sensor or the ignition switch. Any advice would be amazing just want to resolve this matter and know the car is safe.
The car has exhaust, headers and a K&N filter. Beyond that nothing else.
Any stored codes? U may have to graph some sensors with a scanner and see whats happening at time of shut off.
it can be as simple as loose ground or as complicated as a bad dme.
Thank you everyone for your input, much appreciated. I am going to further research your suggestions. I ordered a new fuel filter, DME relay and ingnition switch just to cover those basics. I will take a look at the ground and the X59 connector.
Fyi, there r several grounds. The main ground is passenger side, trans side of the motor that goes to the chassis in the wheel well. The other one that cause issues is the ground drivers side, trans side, where the cps and fi ground. Its up in the head area by the aos.
