I've seen that can be corrected discs by 330/350 from 34 mm to 31 mm and mounted on the Carrera 2, using standard calipers.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After a discussion in a post of Salazar aboult the brake conversion, there are different opinions, that the best was the 996GT3MKI, instead the 996TT, to make the upgrade of the 996 C2 brakes. The information is very diffuse so I intend a clarification aboult this post. who have made this copnversion, or knew how its done please give here the correct information. What pieces needed to do this upgrade. Better with correct codes: Same codes are the same for the 996TT. So maybe we can install severall pieces that are the same for GT3 and the TT. I hope we can find a consense and a correct information. Thanks for all participation.

POST 2Original post

Someone will correct me if this is wrong, but IIRC, both the 996TT and MK1 GT3 had 4 piston front and rear calipers on 330mm rotors (all the way around) [that is unless you are talking the PCCB with 6-pots, which is a different animal as well]. A C2 runs 318mm front rotors and 299 rear, so this is not a plug and play solution. I think the master cylinder will take the upgraded pistons, but your ABS system will be jacked up. WRT the TT swap, it is a PITA. New wheel carriers as the turbo caliper spacing is wider, new struts, springs, etc. Best bet would be the 996 GT3 version, as it is closer to plug and play - however, this is expensive for not much gain. Why do you wnt to do this, anyway? Just run with stock and you'll be fine. In sum: Turbo brakes = don't go there. GT3.1 brakes = go there if you have a bunch of extra cash. -td -td

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, I just think in this situation. A C2 runs 318mm front rotors and 299 rear, so this is not a plug and play solution. So its really very expensive this modification. Maybe I stay with this solution, or upgraded for a less expensive solution like GIRODISC .

POST 4Original post

Girodisc cost $ 2000. I've seen that can be corrected discs by 330/350 from 34 mm to 31 mm and mounted on the Carrera 2, using standard calipers.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes yes, its a better price and a nice option too.

POST 6Original post

I would like to know the motive for the change..... maybe there are easier solutions

POST 7Original post

If you want/need better braking, I think you can get many different pads choices with a higher co-efficient of friction and rotor options as well. This will keep the unsprung weight from increasing and will work better on the street.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi I use the car mainly in street and maybe 4 a 5 track days year. I m gonna make this changes, aboult brakes: - SRF castrol fluid - 997GT3 cooling ducts - Goodridge hoses - and maybe the PAGID yellow pads RS 29. After all, maybe this combination is more than enought for my ambitions no?

POST 11Original post

PFPADM, Your brakes are going to be fantastic with the changes you listed, no real need to upgrade. Folks are racing the 996C2 in the US 996 Spec series with the stock brake calipers and rotors (same thing back when the 996 was in the Grand Am Koni Challenge). Enjoy! Forca Benfica Paulo

POST 12Original post

We are working on an adaptor kit that would include GT3 6 piston brakes and an adaptor to fit the 996 upright. Hoping to test a set in March. Stay tuned.

Actually they (Grand AM) allowed a larger rotor and a spacer for the caliper to get more clamping force. Also a different ABS system was allowed.

Ola Paulo In this moment I 'm gonna upgraded the suspension to a GT3MKII, complete, so I try next the brake combination I descreve and see the performance. I'am Benfica supporter too. Big victory in Germany at the Porsche city Sttutgart, to Europe League. Obrigado. Jose
