Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'gone' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'gone' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi new member, former 914 owner, new 996 owner. Had purchased a 2000 996 with 27k miles and find that the throttle pedal is does not make the engine rev. Car idles fine and starts easily. My guesses are the icv, tps, or something wiring related. Please let me know of any other possibilities. Thanks! (car is in transit so I have yet to receive it to pull codes)

POST 2Original post

Throttle body? Has anything else changed? Have you done any work back there? Remove airbox perhaps? The connection to the throttle body is right in the upper center of the engine bay (left side of the throttle body). Check that first...

POST 3Original post

This happened to me several years ago. Car started accelerating erratically for a few days and then would not go much above idle. The throttle body itself (Egas) itself had gone bad. Replaced it and the problem was gone. By the way look it up by the Bosch part number and you will save some money over the Porsche part number.

POST 4Original post

A 2000 should be an E-gas set up. There may be an issue with the electronics or it may be as simple as a recalibration.

I agree...start with a basic e-gas calibration. Turn key to ON (not START)...do not touch the gas pedal, wait 60 seconds and turn ignition OFF. Should hear some whirring and clicking noises in the engine bay.
